Hello! It wasn't that long ago since I released "Dunes at Night" http://ozzed.net/music/dunes-at-night.shtml but this time, it's something a little different. You see, "Friendship Adventure" is my part of the Soundtrack to the game with the same name, made by Jonny Smeby. You can find the game here:  https://jonnycomics.itch.io/friendship-adventure and the music here: http://ozzed.net/music/friendship-adventure.shtml

Happy listening, and let me know what you think smile

Sorry everyone! I had the wrong link before! hmm

New tune!  Shell Shock Shake

This one sounds a bit like something from Mega Man.. I realized that when I was done.

New tune up! Failien Funk Something a little calmer and more swingy this time.

No I haven't forgotten about the drums for Stroll 'n Roll, I'm still working on that and the solo, I just thought I'd get you something new and different for now smile Enjoy.

I see what you mean now. The drums are supposed to be helping in defining the rest of the song, not take away the focus from it, which, yes it kinda does... It's difficult to hear for me because I become "blind" or "deaf" or whatever to things like that when I've been focusing on other details, but listening to the song as a whole, It'd probably sound better with the hihat removed. It would give the tune a much more defined identity, and such.

And I'll see what I can do about the solo... as the song is kind of one long "jam" with no clearly defined "background" instruments, I'd have to give a solo a different sound, so I think it'll be fun. Thanks again for your awesome input smile

Great idea about a solo! I already have it in my head now... smile

Regarding the high hat... do you mean it needs to be toned down or removed or just altered to be less "messy"?

The generic drums I put at first gave the whole thing too much of a Swing feel so I wanted to use something a little less soft to make the whole thing more alive.

My intention for the song is to be fitting into the story more than being suitable background music for a track. So yes, I've had jamming on an acoustic guitar in mind while making it too.

Thank you for your opinions so far smile

Hi guys!

I'm working on a project called "8-bit Run 'n Pun". It's basically an "album in progress" that I want your input on. I'm using famitracker for it, and so far, one song is released, but in "draft" stage, so I'd like your opinions, but be constructive smile Enjoy.

Project 8-bit Run 'n Pun

I have now made some important changes to the design. You will notice that the site has a more uniform, softer design. And for the people with Widescreen, I have centered the design and put a maximum width to correspond with a 5:4 screen, much like other pages do. And I have made the site more pleasant to navigate due to improvements in the menu-css. The site still keeps it's core design and stays valid.

Thank you to my brother and my girlfriend for design idea and images for the new design. I hope people here will like it better than the old one. Have a look smile

Completely unrelated to making it 8 bit, but i have never heard anyone say bit pop before.

It is an actual genre of music. Technically to be called bitpop or bit-pop or whatever, some componens of the music needs to be from an actual music chip, like the SID-chip or so, but it is a very blurry term.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitpop

I am also not the one actually making the graphics, but if things look the way they look, it is probably my "fault" since I have been directing things and such.

On the subject of making things look nice... If the colors and such were change, but the basic layout remained as it it... Would it make things more likeable?

I'll have to say I really like the banner going all the way to the edges. That was an excellent idea.

or why not fuck the whole "8-bit style" thing, shit's stupid. Just make it pretty. emulation is never the answer.

That might work better. I've already changed some things around, but if there is more that can be done, let me know. It is difficult because "Pretty" and "Ugly" is a matter of taste. And there is no "one" answer.

Also, to whoever claims that I do not acknowledge the criticism... Um.... The fact that I'm here taking input answers everything, dude. If I was not planning on being criticized, I wouldn't even have started this thread. That doesn't mean I am obligated to listen to every single suggestion. That was an utterly oblivious statement.

Regarding the content area... Would it help if I narrowed it down a bit? Say for example that I now have a width of 70% for the content area. If I change it to 65, where would you want the extra space to go? Right or left, or should I just center the content area?

8-bit rex, Stating that the site is ugly is of NO help. Let's say my site was moderately green, and someone says it is ugly. That can mean that they want it to be more green, less green, or not green at all. A certain level of specification is necessary.

If it sounds like I'm saying "Fuck you, It's my site, I do what I want!" I apologize. I don't mean it like that. I'm just explaining why I chose to layout things the way I did.

pixls, The top margin and side margins are by choice, but are you saying things would make more sense if I removed them? I could try that. It just made sense to have some breathing space "around" the site and it was meant to increase readability and such, but if it makes no sense it can be removed.

And again with the content. Are you saying I should use more paragraphs, or split the content into smaller pages?

I will fix my menu so that is has the same size as the adds. Thank you again everyone for your input.

Edit: Well the top margin is gone. Now the only margins I can think of is the one to the left, right, and the spacing margin between the banner and the menu. Are those good or should they be removed?
