I dunno there's a new George and Jonathan coming out this month.  Bryface just made a song entirely on using the dubhorn.wav sample, Xyce and Ctrix are making incredible Amiga jams, An0va released Ego Depletion recently. There's a new Knife City coming out this month. Rekcahdam has the Band Saga album coming out soon, and there's always a steady stream of chill Disasterpeace tunes coming.  Nullsleep released a track today (haven't heard yet) which is probably more modular synth than chip.

I dunno, I regularly have more stuff to check out than I even have time for.  It's a good time to be a music lover folks.

Maybe you're not downloading enough albums from Ubiktune dude.

I'll be making chip for a good while. I've always made other kinds of music so I'm sure some non-chip albums will happen at some point. I still see a lot of room to grow as a chip artist, and I haven't made all the music I want to make yet.

im not saying that arent some, just that as a percentage of the scene, i think the unique acts are actually a smaller part of the scene than they were in 2007-2008.. seems for every new artist doing something really different there are15-20-30 artists all copying other peoples sounds (intentionally or not)

I think that's probably some sort of rose-colored-glasses hipster talk, but I really have no idea where you're finding new music.  I haven't really noticed this trend at all.  I dunno, I find rad shit all the time, 90% of it not chip unce.  I go to a lot if shows and check out cool stuff that my friends post.

In fact, there's a lot of stuff out there today that makes some of the earlier chip records sound weak

just saying, those limitations... chip gear is what it is... honestly thought about 5-6 years ago we'd see a shift toward mixing chip with other gear after a few acts got a little bigger, but scene is more homogenous than ever.. too much 4/4 EDM/house/happy hardcore been done with this gear already, and i wasnt big on it even when it was new... and if you use it heavily, you get labeled as chip, which then leads peopls to expect 4/4 edm dance nonsense (at least my experience in the midwest, i get told by chip gigs im not chip, and by other gigs that im too chip)

Yea and if you have no major background in the community, you wont always get a personal response from a cold call email. Its nothing personal, there are limited resources and one x number of shows in a year.

Ways you can 'crack the scene"
- Put on local shows.
- When people come to your town, come to them as a fan, and make a connection
- Participate on compilations with other artist to get your name out there
- Once a relationship is formed with people, put out feelers about playing a show.

Touring in the chip scene only is rough since they tend to be monthlies, and it will be hard to put together a tour on a bunch of random dates. Broaden your contacts, and be prepared to fill in on nights that may not be the best fit. People who put on shows remember if you are good, and easy to work with and will remember that when it comes time to work with you again.

Yeah this pretty much.  I've been touring a couple times a year, but I've been making contacts since 2005 (not necessarily in the chip scene either).  And even after making contacts since 2005, I didn't do my first tour until 2011, and that first one wasn't very pretty.

The last few tours I've done have been successful, but very few of the dates were exclusively in "the chip scene".  Most of the time I'm playing outside the comfort zone to people who may or may not be receptive towards what you do, the challenge is to win them over.  For example, I've played around 10-15 nerd hip hop gigs this year.

I got my labels printed at stickermule.  I didn't get the beveled edges, but their DPI and sticker quality was totally up to par with the original stickers
