On this Cyber Monday, I present my love letter to cyberpunk fiction. I've been working on this music video for a few months, it's been a wild, ambitious project.

Enjoy guys!

As a biased chip musician you're missing the point Wimmer.  His sound design may not be the most groundbreaking thing to ever chiptune, but it's a great showcase to someone who doesn't listen to chip music to show that the Gameboy can sound fucking gnarly (remember the audience!).  The timbre IS awesome, especially to someone who hasn't heard of it before.

Also, your comment is analogous to saying "this Diplo record is lame, you should check out Thelonious Monk"

I really liked how he brought up Koji Kondo and (someone else sorry) in order to set the stage for "in the beginning there was video games, and now we have club bangers"

Wow you guys are harsh.

The Megaman comparison is wrong/bad (Led Zeppelin sounds like Metallica because guitartune), the Guchi/Castles references are relevant because of his audience, and he makes a fair differentiation from them.

THE MOST IMPORTANT PART is how he talks about how the low res timbres actually add grit and an edgy quality to the tunes.  I found it to be well researched and presented (except for Megaman), and he focused on the right musical and production choices. I even agreed with his songwriting criticism (sorry Alex love you bby)

I'm not sure if you guys actually listened to what he said, or if you're just making superficial judgements (which is ironically what he DIDNT do)

Whoa, very well put together!

I have to admit, it can be strange reconciling the idea that I am a cited authority on these subjects, I haven't been doing it as long as others.  I can only speak from anecdotal experience, luckily I've found my conclusions are usually shared by others.

The trick is one of them grooves and the other is just awkward (not always a bad thing)

They're off time triplets. Meaning they're in regular triplet time, but odd accents.

Now if you want to get really fucked, have fun with these quintuplets

Thirsty remixes gotta cash in while that shit is still hot

I play the guitar, and I am SERIOUSLY pissed about this Guitar Hero thing. It even got some attention in non-guitar forums and magazines. Now any kid can just buy the talent that I worked so hard for. sad Just who do they think they are misrepresenting something that is special to ME?

How does this TOY affect any of your musical output?

Maybe I'm just jealous that *Beamz plus Arduino = Chiptune* can get press on Engadget and I can't.
