Let me work on getting some of those questions answered by our dev team!  But I completely appreciate the feedback. We definitely do want to get it right with both retrogamers and chip composers. I sure as hell would love to be able to perform with something the company I work for has put hard work into.

As seen here from a Neowin article. As Hyperkin's PR guy, I can confirm that the link port was put in for any DIY/Chip-specific devices such as USB Boys/Arduino devices. Not TOO SURE about device sync yet, so hold on for an answer regarding that. This is the build we showed off at E3.

Just wanted to update the community (that I'm proudly part of) that has shown a lot of concern over no link port in past prototype versions. They've always been in the plan, and we're in fact still developing the little guy. You're in good hands. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the answers.

Is your target audience here LSDJ users, or retro gamers? I wonder if we could set something up to have some musicians come to hyperkin and get a sneak peak with some songs that tend to struggle on real gameboys.

Since I did consult a bit  for our R&D team, and what our R&D team has said during CES, I can honestly say, we do have some intention of aiming this at actual GB producers, but like someone mentioned here, it is a new solution for playing your old Game Boy games.

Our products are always for both the hardcore and the general public looking for a nostalgia kick. But the audio features are, for the most part, intended for chiptune purposes.

Thanks for stopping by!

Can you confirm that it wasn't just a stock backlit gb pocket in an aluminum case?

Any idea what's up with the stereo output being touted as a new feature when all Game Boys have always had as stereo headphone jack? Or are you talking about two dedicated output jacks, or two built in speakers?

Can you confirm that it will have a functioning link port?

The Ultra was definitely a prototype we made to show off at CES! Stuffing cases isn't how we roll.

I believe what we were throwing around was two dedicated jacks, but closer to release, we'll have a better picture as to what the jacks actually will be (I myself have a custom DMG with a 1/4" output and a 3.5 prosound). I do know we have a custom DMG around the office with RCA jacks I believe. Just so you know what references we have as far as what chip producers are using.

That's my #1 question at the moment.

I cannot. I believe we had a visible one on the prototype, but it's still up in the air as to whether or not it will be in the final release.

Although, as an LSDJ user, I did voice to the team that 2x GB is common. Hope this helps for now.

Hi Guys! Haven't posted in a while here (member for about 8 years or so....and keytar dude from Here Between You Me). I'm actually on the marketing team for Hyperkin. If you guys have any questions about the GB, feel free to ask. Although there isn't much right now about, as our CES prototype is definitely not our final version.

Some stuff we are planning on possibly adding:

RGB dial to change color on the fly
Dual stereo output (L/R)

I can confirm the body is aluminum.

Your best option is to get BGB working properly.  Look in the settings tab for latency or buffer settings (don't have it in front of me at the moment).  Also check what wav writer is selected and experiment with other options.  BGB can sound stuttery when rendering but the wavs should still come out perfect as long as your system is configured appropriately.

BGB FTW!!!

You can select other writers?

I know this has been discussed in other threads, but I think it'd be easier to lay out my situation this way.

Typically I record each channel individually using a Prosounded (3.5mm jack) DMG. That same DMG also as a quarter-inch Prosound, but I've yet to use it. I still get a notieable hum in each track.

I've tried to use BGB's .wav recorder, but it comes out mostly filled with stutters and slowdown. I've thought of just recording BGB straight from an outside DAW.

What is - in your opinion - the best solution for recording LSDJ noise-free?

Edit: whoops double reply

I sent a PM regarding the C64. smile

I've tinkered with ATII a couple times, but I haven't touched my laptops in a while due to being very busy at work. It usually takes me a couple hours of tinkering to get myself to self-teach a new tracker. Is there a quick way to jump into ATII such as tutorials, written or video?

Does shutdown /s not work?

It does not sad

Hmmm, if I try to shut down via MS-DOS (aka press the power button), it takes me to a weird countdown screen, but doesn't actually turn off. It goes into a sleep mode. How do I do a full shut down from DOS?

Edit: Initially it showed a picture of the monitor. To the right was a set of what seemed to be discs. To the left was a chip.

Under it was a big "X" labeled with "backspace." The monitor (image) eventually turns black and just kinda goes to "sleep."

I think he meant to use a CF to IDE adapter, which would essentially turn the CF into a solid state ide drive. So you would have to replace the HDD with that.

I gathered as much, but from all the mod/conversion tutorials I'm seeing, it seems like they're just putting it into the PCMCIA slot on the side and not opening up the libretto and removing anything.

The CF will act exactly as a HDD would.

Ah I see. And the internal HD, would it just stay in there, while I just boot from the CF?

My 50ct came in! Just waiting for the power supply. The guy I bought it from also threw in a port replicator, which allows me to use an external keyboard and monitor.
