yooo so I got really excited by the prospects of NL 2 to CV sync and picked up a copy of 2.7.8. I've been trying to sync mainly to a Korg Volca sample through a modified DMG-05 cable (per OW specs) through a DMG to GBA adapter. I've been using the A/2 sync method in Nanoloop. The only issue is that, quite randomly, the sync will skip by a whole step. I know the cable is built correctly because it does sync and stay synced but the skip makes the sync basically unusable. See a video below of what I'm talking about.

I'm just not sure if this is a Nanoloop issue or a Volca Sample issue. Have yall had this issue with other Volcas? There's so many factors. Could it be that I'm running through a DMG/GBA adapter? Could it be battery levels? I did notice that if you power on the Volca, plug in the sync cable, and then power on Nanoloop, it spits out a bunch of garbage that makes the Volca walk through several steps. Could it be that Nanoloop is intermittently sending out pulse garbage that make the Volca skip?

I've tested the GBA CV sync with a Pocket Operator (PO-14) and it's a bit tough to tell if the same thing is going on but it seems to be a solid sync. Maybe the PO ignores the pulse garbage? Thanks for any help yall can give here. Would LOVE to get a solid sync between NL and the Volca Sample/

Upon discovering what
the program was capable of,
the scientists took immediate precautions,
securing it inside of the nearest electronic
device they could find: A nintendo Game Boy.
They feared its power yet could not bring
themselves to destroy it. Trapped inside the machine
with no way to escape and return to its own time,
the program began expressing itself through
the sound chip of the Game Boy.

you can mess with the delay settings in the max patch editor to remove the ghosting... also running through a smart midi filter spliter whatever like the motu micro seems to help prevent garbage midi... as does clean power.

oh laaaawd I messed with those delay settings so many times. Never could find a setting that would fully get rid of ghost notes. Talked to tim about it and there was apparently something in the last aboy rom that was screwy. I need to get back to him about that actually...

Never considered that the midi patchbay could be part of the problem. Though I still get garbage when going straight from GB to synth..

If you want to control multiple synths (I have LSDJ sequencing an MFB-522, MFB Nanozwerg and MSX) you'll need a midi patchbay or splitter. I use a Kawai Mav-8 and it does the job perfectly. Jefftheworld is right though - CC through LSDJ is a pain. If you are just trigger notes and program changes though, you'll be fine. Once you have a handle on how you need to coordinate your Q- N- and Y- commands with the rest of your information in LSDJ, you'll be flying.

Just beware of ghost MIDI information - I get a fair bit of it when using a DMG. Moving to a GB color helps a bit (better processor) but I still get some MIDI garbage from time to time.

Have fun! LSDJ as sequencer is great fun.

with a 556 for oscillators, 4017 for sequencer and 555 for clock, you can get some pretty cool blippy, borderline FM-y arps going!

case in point:

whoa this is dope. to think how far shit has come since we needed a windows machine with a serial port just to backup the old blue buddies. thanks man
