i don't think you can just "hack" an image into a program that does not display an image without knowing any asm actually

agree with frostbyte, the xms would be nice
no new future for chipmusic should involve sharing mp3s and mp3s only

yeah, i think chipsounds is the exception for chip vsts because it sounds good and it does more than you can do easily with samples. others are just making a badly aliased square or triangle and don't sound great.

i liked the music although i didn't expect to from the description (crack intro music and uk hardcore are not my favourite things) it was more intelligent than just m*kt*n* with FL studio club kick or amen break or whatever
so some people may feel let down for the description. but for me it just lowered my expectations and increased my pleasent surprise at the music
or whatever

as i said in the other thread people have been making chiptunes in sample trackers for more than twenty years without vsts, and it sounds better than magical8bitplug anyway. i don't think you need vsts~ i certainly don't

can you hand draw a waveform in renoise? or load a sample and chop it so it's only 64 bytes long? people have been making chip music in trackers without vsts since more than twenty years now, and most of it sounds A LOT better than today's VST craps.

from what i understand there is no easy way to do this for LSDJ ~ you may have to reverse engineer the LSDJ player or something. for something like music box or carillon tracker there may be ways to do it, and for MML i suppose you can definitely do it. for other system like vortex tracker 2 or pretty much any c64 software (mssiah, prophet64 and cynthcart not included), it is really easy to get a player you can use in your own programs

this is a totally different kind of article though, in fact it is just a list of the gear people use. it's cool but it's aimed at a completely different audience to the article in the OP (well that's my impression anyway)
