sorry to dig up an old thread, but has there been any progress with MOD2PCE?  I've been wanting to get my PC engine music on for a long time, and now that Im getting more into mods and shiz, i'd love to make some tunes for my duo (i've got a flash cart too, WAAY cheaper to buy a flash cart than all the games I wanted).

I've been wondering the same things myself.  I honestly think it is along the lines that the companies that made musical instruments were either 1) stuck in their "old ways" 2) basing a lot of their concepts and designs off of previous designs 3) wasn't cost effective or was proprietary and required licensing.

no this CEM is a voice chip, the 3379 is a filter.  The 3394 is like the SID with complete VCA and VCF on chip.

The CEM3394 which was used in arcade boards is found in Sequential Circuits Six Trak, Multi Trak, Max, Split Eight, Akai AX60(an awesome synth!) and the AX73 i think as well as the Doepfer Dark Energy.

Yeah it appears so.  I ended up finding one through laserbeats website, its a little more trusty than other websites I have been too.  It was a broken x68000, but it has the midi card in the back, so I have to try to win it now and pay excessive shipping.  It has everything, just needs a new power supply so I'll prolly just fix it too.

yeah i thought of trying these, but thought I would ask around first.

So I am in the process of restoring the much coveted Sharp X68000.  I bought the machine without a power supply, keyboard, mouse, or really anything.  I have bought a keyboard and mouse, and have a new ATX power supply in the mail.  I want to make some chiptunes on it, but really prefer midi as my form of communication (I use my Atari's for all my sequencing needs).  Does anyone have or know where to get the CZ-6BM1 or CZ-6BM1A or related midi expansion boards for the X68000?
