I didn't mean to imply that there was 30 years and then the hacks happened.  I meant over the 30 years.  I grew up in America, this machine basically doesn't exist here.  I tried really hard not to sound like an idiot bringing this format to BotB, but there is always, always someone who finds something to get irked at.  We had fun making tunes in a tracker, glad you liked some of them.

put me down for Gates of Steel!  \:D/

yeah, thanx again for waiting until the submission time is over to say something instead of asking me to extend it!

BotB is an open community.  Community works through communication.  Passive aggressive, after-the-fact behaviour doesn't help anyone.  Next time, come to IRC and ask for puke7 or talk to any of the ops and they will relay the message.

Nine tracks up so far!

ZX Spectrum Beeper Battle Info

The first generation of ZX Spectrum, which wasn't popular here in the States, had a single coil speaker with one-bit audio capacity.  Fast forward almost 30 years, the hackers have found a few ways to deliver tuned polyphonic sound.  Is it pretty?  Not exactly!
That won't stop Battle of the Bits from adding this console to it's roster of formats.

Beepola seems to be the tracker of choice.
I think your other options are using Spectrum software in emulation or on the real deal.
More format info here.

7 days to go!  big_smile

3 days left!! yikes

Alright, gang, two weeks left -- Get tracking!! big_smile

Glad the troops are motivated!

For all you IRC nerds -- we're at #botb esper.net

Battle of the Bits is proud to announce it's fifth annual multi-format chiptune competition.  Entry submissions are open for the whole month of February.  With over three weeks to go and plenty of formats to choose from, you have no reason not to get off yer duff and dish out something sweet!

also, here are the release notes --

"I love how the mist toggles in Baron Knoxburry. Familiar techiques, but different equipment. This is low-fi like you've never heard it before, a lot of bass, intertwined with chiptuned beats, it even has recognizable structures and melodies, something we're not familiar with here. I probably would have said "No thank you" if it weren't so beautiful. Even if you're no fan of chiptune or the low-fi sounds, I'm betting this split album will change your mind. But don't panic, the Baron provides us with the noise we so crave. Still lo-fi/-bit, but less structural and more distortion. Limited to 30 copies."

hahahhaha AWESOME TIEMZ!!!!
