The only reason I used it is because that's what I'm learning right now in Software Dev class. I know my way around C, Python, and a little bit of others, but VB.NET can play audio with one line. Don't judge me!

A birdy told me we might see a more pig friendly version of something like this sooner rather than later.

Ooh, I'm liiistening~

Great idea! Any chance of a mac version?

Nope, sorry. This was done in Visual Basic .NET, a strictly Windows language sad
I'll see if there's some way to get it working on Wine, at least. Maybe try Mono, I heard good things about Mono being able to run .NET programs on non-Win platforms!

Changing the "speed" would affect the pitch and the tempo, right?

Changing the speed would definitely change the pitch in this case. In general music cases, changing the speed of a music file will change the tempo as well. However, tempo is a musical term, and applies to music, not single tones! tongue

Tempo doesnt have any meaning if there's just one note being looped smile

P E R F E C T for piggy. thanks! i will check it out tomorrow and letcha know what i think.

Awesome, thanks!

I also thought it by be cool to be able to change the tempo while the samples looped.

you mean the pitch? There's no tempo in this program!
That being said, I'll give it a go smile

Grab a butt-load of single cycle waveforms right here: http://www.adventurekid.se/akrt/wavefor … waveforms/

That's exactly why i devleoped this, so I could browse that archive! I downloaded it ages ago, but got scared from using it because I had no idea what each waveform sounded like before importing it.

One suggestion:  It'd be nice if you could lock the loop button down so you didn't have to hit it every time

Ah, didn't think of that! I'll get working on a locked-down loop button in a few hours when I get home.

I found an old recording of a stupid noise jam I did back in '11. From what I recall, I was messing around with my Gameboy and TouchOSC live control.
Download it, listen to it. Do whatever you want. Includes extremely hi-res gif-artifacted cover art for your viewing pleasure

I recorded this sometime around the 20th of December 2011, then retouched and released later on. I used FL Studio, a DMG Gameboy and a bunch of samples and effects manipulated live with TouchOSC.

The first track garnered lots of positive reviews back at 8bc. As for the second track, I just fucked around with parameters and stuff 'til it sounded cool or something.

Bumping for the afternoon crew, also fixed a pretty annoying bug and added a proper formal webpage. Woo.

Cyclist is a simple no-bullshit Windows program that browses a directory of short samples (only .wav is supported for now) and plays them. It has a loop function to play single-cycle waveforms too. Instead of hearing a short click you get the full waveform.

This should be good for people prepping samps for LSDJ, Piggy, Milkytracker, etc etc, and want to quickly browse their library of  short samples quickly and with no bullshit.
I made it for that purpose, but mainly for my own uses. After trying to prep some samples for Piggy, I thought this would be easy and a good way to exercise my programming skills for class next week. Productivity.

Download (v1.2.1) can be found at http://chainsaw.musho.org/software/cyclist/

I'll add mp3 (and perhaps ogg) support in a while once I get the time, and maybe even a little waveform view on the side. But for now, take it or leave it.
It was written and tested on Windows 8 (Consumer Preview), and I'm almost 100% sure it'll work on anything newer than XP. It uses nothing fancy or non-standard, and definitely nothing Win8-specific.
Not working on Wine, although I'll try finding a workaround if enough people wanna use it.

Thoughts?

YESSSSS, big ups! Gonna go buy the absolute fuck out of this heart

Go and look up amiga/c64 demoscene music. It's usually not very uncey, and has a totally distinct non-dmg sound to it. That should be just what you're looking for!

FWIW: i dont think that asking for advice on finding chiptune music on a chiptune forum is really flame-worthy. it may be difficult for some of the newer members to understand, but there was a lot of chiptune before 4-on-the-floor gameboy unce style invaded everything, and just because he doesn't like some of the artists that you think are godlike doesn't make him an idiot or a troll.

James hits the nail right on the head yet again.

Okay, I came into this thread calm and collected, trying not to throw any unneeded shit in the mix. But wow.
