Awesome!

My username is just a dumb acronym I made when I was a little kid. It also used to be my artist name until 2 years ago when the founders of Depeche Mode, Vince Clarke and Martin Gore, decided to use their initials as the name for their reunion project.

My new name, Vince Kaichan, was made in a panic by translating my real name from English to Russian to Japanese and back to English.

I love how all your stuff has this depth and lushness to it along with great grooves and percussion. It's so pretty

This is ridiculously groovy.

Is January 25 too old of an album to review? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this: http://vincekaichan.bandcamp.com/album/ilio

Edit: oh wait nevermind that's still within 3 months whoops

3-4 minutes for a song because that's when I usually start to run out of ideas/song memory.

25-30 minutes for an album is where I usually end up, and I find that at that length it feels substantial but is still short enough that I can listen to most of it in a single sitting. If it's longer than that I often end up stopping partway through and then starting from the beginning again the next day, which means the later songs don't get played as much.

Thanks so much!

The great thing about chipmusic is that there are so many great, powerful tools available that are free or very reasonably priced. Try out what you already have, and if you don't like any of them go online and just look around for other programs until you find something that fits you! It doesn't matter what the "best way" is as long as the music itself is good.

Looks really cool! Definitely keeping an eye on this.

uIEC is not a disk drive emulator.

Ah, my bad. Still pretty useful though.

^this. It's probably also worth it to buy a disk drive emulator like uIEC or 1541 Ultimate if you want to use SIDWiz or other native programs on actual hardware. (plus you can play lots of games with it as well smile )

If you're more comfortable with DAWs you could try building an LSDJ MIDI interface if you still want to use a Gameboy: http://www.firestarter-music.de/lsdj/
I don't know too much about it because I don't use it myself, but there are probably others here that could help you with it.

Edit: you can buy premade ones here apparently: http://www.komaku.com/muscat1b/categories/31659/

Like others, for me piano rolls are great for sitting down and jamming until something comes, and trackers are better when I have a concrete idea in mind beforehand. I personally like trackers more because it feels like you can fit a lot more information in less space.

Maybe you're just a visual info person? Since you mentioned those interfaces work better for you. Nothing wrong with making chiptune in FL Studio though!
