From what I've read it seems like you guys know quite about music in general in regards to composition and such.

I absolutely love the sound of chiptunes. I got a DMG from a friend who didn't want his anymore and bought LSDJ and I've learned quite a bit about the program but I have no musical background at all and I feel like I'm struggling to write anything that sounds like it's supposed to be music as apposed to a bunch of sounds playing at the same time.

For example, I always thought getting a good drum beat wasn't that difficult but I guess I was wrong, I feel like I go a little crazy and add in drum notes all over and there really isn't any rhythm to it. I recently tried looking up a drumming tutorial to get a better understanding so that I can at least set up a good beat for my songs.

Other than just playing around the LSDJ which I plan on continuing to do, is there any advice someone can share that might help?

I'm sure I haven't articulated my problems or how I solved them very well but I suppose now it doesn't matter.  It all works, I can backup my saves and import and export lsdsng files to and from my GB and PC.

Sorry to be off topic but I wanted to say as a final note:

All too often I've been to a forum with a problem and there are always individuals who jump in only to tell me that I've asked a stupid question to a problem I should be able to figure out on my own and then leave no help in solving said problem.  But you guys gave me constructive advice, and that's a nice change of pace.

Anyway I'm off to make some jams on my Gameboy. smile

Alright. Again I want to thank everyone for the help.  Sometimes it's good to leave and come back to a problem after you've had some time to refresh.  I figured out my problem, I was extracting the files, thinking that was what I needed to run the program.  But I see now that I just use Java to open the zip file and it runs fine.

Thank you Aeros, you've been a lot of help and I appreciate that, and everyone else who responded for that matter. To the issue at hand, I actually have both versions of the latest java installed and I even uninstalled, downloaded the latest versions online and installed them but still nothing.

I've tried looking up online for the problem but I've been unsuccessful at finding any relevant information on the matter.

Is there any other way to get the lsdsng files from the .gb file?

It's one problem after another lol. I got the cart to work but now I can't get lsd Manager to work.  My computer tells me it doesn't know what to open the file with.  I have java, but something isn't working.

Yeah it's weird... the computer knows what's installed now, and the program lists LSDJ-v4.5.4 four times under the Card Information screen, but at the bottom of the program it says device disconnected and I can't do anything.

Thanks for the help, at least the computer recognizes the device.  I'll try reinstalling the drivers and if that fails then I suppose I'll wait for Kitsch.

Ok sorry it took so long got caught up with something here at home.  Anyway I got the drivers install but the program wont do anything.  It says the device is disconnected.  But it does recognize that the Cart in hooked up.

Aeros it is an EMS USB correct.  And I'm on Windows 7.  And I am in test mode actually.  So I'm not sure what's going wrong.  When I plug in the cable it makes a noise almost like the traditional noise when the PC recognizes a device but it stopped short.  It's odd.

I want to set up my 64M USB cart so I can transfer saves from the cart to my PC.  I've followed the instructions from the CD such as assigning the system files, the instructions then say to close program and restart my computer and then direct the installer to the system files, but I can't get an installer to come up, I can't find an installer program and when I plug the cable into the cart nothing happens.

Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Nice stuff.  I'm new to the scene too, haven't put out any tracks as I'm still learning to use LSDJ. But all the same I thought I'd drop some praise on your work.  Keep it up!
