SNES + Modded Super Gameboy + LSDJ .......done. You can get the software of LSDJ from http://www.littlesounddj.com/lsd/ you can get the 64M cart to put this program on from http://store.kitsch-bent.com/ or http://nonelectronics.com/ both of which can preload the cart with LSDJ if you have proof you've paid for it, and you can get a modded Super Gameboy from http://thursdaycustoms.bigcartel.com/pr … y-for-snes    ......or hell even I can mod a Super Gameboy for you, +parts and labor, if you're already got one laying around. If you get something like Famitracker first it will help you understand a program like LSDJ though without having to spend any cash right away. If you like something you can take to a gig, getting a modded Gameboy and LSDJ is one of the easiest ways to go.

Alright, so I got a Gameboy recently that didn't have the screen cover on it and the front film has a few small scratches in it. I'm curious on 2 things. 1. How bad would these look once a backlight has been installed, would it be VERY noticeable? 2. How hard is it to replace the front polarized film? I know that it can be a real pain to replace this film, and a few things I read is it will never look the same, but I haven't seen any tutorials or after pics on it to show just how bad it is. If anyone can shed some light on this for me, or even a pic of a backlit screen with either scratches on the film or a replaced film all together I'd be very grateful.

Well I found one of my Grey cases still had a serial in tact and it does have the FCC notice and misses the other 2. This was another ebay purchase and I can't remember where it came from exactly.

I should also mention, I worked at GameStop for about 3 years and we were only able to take units that had the barcoded serial numbers in tact for tracking purposes. This is also why I wondered if the red unit came from Canada.

Unit is made in China, here's a pic of it instead. Would be easier for you I'd imagine. wink

I put up a pic of a Clear DMG I have to show a bit of a difference. I purchased both of these units off of ebay. The red unit came from Michigan and the clear one came from Ohio. What I tend to notice is that most US serials are the larger sticker, like the clear unit, have a G+8+1. What I'm curious about is if the red unit was originally purchased in Canada since it was so close to the border. Sadly all my other DMGs have the serials torn off but I do know that they all had the larger serial stickers before they were taken off and cleaned.

I have a red PIL that has a serial with GH + 7 digit numbers.

PM'd you mysterystain

Bump! If the price is too steep on the ClearBoy don't be afraid to make an offer as long as it's reasonable. Also I'm willing to ship internationally, it'll just be a tad more for the shipping costs but I'll cover about $5 worth of the total shipping price.

From the looks of it in the pic that's a 10V cap.

The only other mod I could even think of would be a half or variable clock mod for some different octave ranges. If you don't really need or want them then it's a bit worthless.

Bump! ClearBoy is up for sale.

No problem! I really wish I knew what happened to my old Speak and Spell from when I was a kid. They look like a ton of fun to bend and record with. I'd like to hear what you do with yours! big_smile

This site had some good info for basic circuit bending as well as how to hook up and audio out. http://www.oscillateur.com/circuitbending/faq And if you really want to go all out, this site has a kit to hook up a MIDI port to it! http://highlyliquid.com/kits/midispeak/

You can circuit bend the crap out of a speak and spell. The ROM slot was for specific games and lessons. Not sure of anything for recording purposes. You can put a 1/4" or 1/8" jack on it as well to easily record, or do live performances. Here's a site I found that had some good info on a Speak and Read http://makezine.com/extras/32.html  There are quite a few things out there for these little toys, just google search "circuit bend Speak and Spell". You'll turn up a lot of stuff, from videos to tutorials and what not. Hope this helps.
