These look awesome!  Great idea.  I have told many people about this already.  You might have a new concept on music delivery here big_smile

Did post on it.

I think this is very creative and the first I have heard of.

This would be nice, but I know that is a lot of work.  First I would like to say I'm glad Kitsch is working on this.  I know it will be an evolution of materials in order to find the right combination.  Having made this mod and researching various fresnel films I would say the traditional back lit approach is going to be hard to get to work.  The thin fresnel film is very precise in letting just the right amount of light be reflected back to the lcd surface.  This sounds simple, but I too tried various materials and ideas and the result just did not look as good as the frontlight from the SP.  Please keep up the search and if someone finds a thin fresnel film, please alert us in this thread.  Great effort!

If you are looking for a true honest review I think you need a side by side comparison with a GBC with a front light from a SP.  That is the standard IMHO.

This is why I wanted the 'beatbox' cart.  I was going to sync it via MCTRL.

Amps can color the sound if they use cheap op-amps.  Start with the two core channels and decouple them them with small caps and you should be good to go.  If you feel you need to boost the signal, then go for an amp, but personally I think the signal is plenty hot. Pic of the mod I found and usually do.

I'll wait a little longer for something like the SP frontlight...

Agreed.

Do these have the fresnel film on them?  I think it really makes it work.  This seems a bit washed out.  Can you post a pic in normal lighting?

Are the effects baked into the pack? Ive been looking for a good midines replacing sample pack, but the demos are a little too pan-y for my tastes.

I agree he did work a lot of phasing into the demos.  The effects are not baked in.  He has built this out extensively with tutorials and sample tracks, which you can edit or make your own straight from the library.

AfroDjMac has spent a considerable amount of time on his latest sample pack for Ableton Live.

@DSC Yeah that does look way nice. But it only works for one color right?

Yep.  Just cut out the letters or graphics, pull them out and cover with app tape and transfer.
Cost about a dollar a piece. If any of you want to make some, I'm up for making a few custom
if you guys want any.

I like cutting them out of Vinyl.  Super clean look.

These chips are going to be hard to desolder because of he board thickness. You may as well just cutthe chips off at the board and then remove each pin one by one. Also make sure to install sockets.

This absolutely!

The switch could be jiffyDOS.  Done many of those mods back in the day.  Great score!  I still have my 1802 monitor from when I was 14.  Don't ever sell that monitor, it is priceless!  So many uses.  It is a bit small, but very useful.  Good luck with the repair.  I also have not had much success fixing breadbin's.  In my experience you fix something and something else breaks.
If you can get it fixed, check out the Mssiah and Cynthcart.
