April FooLs! Now your dreams will never come true! Just kidding, that's not how dreams work.

I'm almost done with a very distinctive iPhone tracker. It's sample based so I'm using it to make a breakcore song, which is pretty fun. I'll show the song to people probably...mostly excited for the tracker.

Oh cool! Welcome! I'm sure we'd be interested in the aforementioned tracker when you're ready to announce it.

Edit: I feel that, I should disclose that I am also a developer, who is working on a tracker for iOS. tongue it's raining iOS trackers all of a sudden.

Ur welcome bitlich.

I found a nice PDF manual too.

Hi guys I just thought I'd promote this little tracker. It seems totally badass, if a bit mysterious in places. it's free to download too. Worth checking out.

Yeah, not sure about what word to use. It depends, right? The software should handle the finger pushes and output MIDI-signals. Then the software should be plugged into FL studio or any other software which can take the MIDI signals and turn them into sound. Alternatively, my software could generate the sound itself and not output any signals to a second program.

I'd prefer to output signals because generating my own sounds (building a synthesizer) will take a long time.
From what I understand, a VST is a software that plugs into another software, that you can connect to other controllers?

But yeah, what I'm trying to create is a software instrument.

The Sensel (which looks bad to the bone) outputs midi. From what I've see it's a midi controller.

So if you just want to use it with a DAW, just add it as a midi controller. That's the intended way to use it. It will deliver midi signals to the daw, and yes, any VSTs, loaded therein. Try audio reaper , or OHM STUDIO.

If you want to do strange things with the midi signals once they get to the PC, that would require software to process the midi before it enters the DAW. These things are possible, but a pain in the ass. And not needed by most.

rabbits are awesome too. i mean i love dogs also (except a lot of the smaller breeds), just they're seriously much more of a hassle to take care of than cats

Yeah ditto. Cats are low maintenance, but still very amusing. I live in an apartment. I also like how much self respect they have, while still being a creature that poops in a box.

Yes exactly, it wasn't unheard of to end up with only 20-30k free for audio on an amiga game.  Had to work in that space myself.

Oh that's an interesting point. So the reliance on simple waveforms and older music sounds was driven by its own technological limitations. The processor was ready for sampled audio, but not the storage media. And of course there was no mp3.

Chip sample tracker modules weren't called chipmusic because they used 'chips' of a bigger sound, it was because the small-form waveforms resembled the sounds from the old SID/AY etc. chips, rather than full samples.

So would it be accurate to say that chipmusic has been 'retro' since the beginning? As a music culture?

So you want to inject into the sid data from each channel? That's really cool. What kind of effects would you do? Any ideas? I guess some are obvious, like delay, pitch bend... Stutter. Is that the kind of stuff you had in mind?

Actually that's a good idea.

Oh no, I get what your saying. I'm okay with that discontinuity. That's fine, sounds like the WAVE channel in LSDJ kind of. I mean the waveform is kucfed up, and has a 'buzz' in it. I guess click is the wrong word. Periodic discontinuity. tongue and only when I go back, not forward.
