If you are dying to get your hands on a mega-huge driver that can even use extra channels the Sega CD and 32X offer, I have a friend who has (as of last week) commented out such a sound driver after disassembling a CD-32X game. PM me if you want his email. It wouldn't be the most immediate driver, but definitely the biggest in terms of options.

Personally, I see the SMPS and GEMS as popular sound drivers in the Megadrive scene, but there may be others that would be more tracker-friendly.

Re: How does one play live chip music... (184 replies, posted in General Discussion)
Does deliberately complicating the presentation of the music just for the sake of having something to do and be able to say "See, I AM performing" really make LSDJ performance more noble than simply pressing Play?
It's all about how you prepare the songs, and the way you have made it sound is like "hurr durr memorized the sequence for phrases in LIVE mode in LSDJ and changing pulse widths" when that is sometimes the case. One can always improvise melodies and play them out later in a track, as well as use a LSDJ keyboard to play along. Also, LIVE mode is good for jamming with musicians and rapidly tracking new stuff to compliment live performers (creative panning use can create a "cue" channel to send to your headphones).
It's literally all about the performer and their intentions on put on a show, LIVE mode or SONG mode or just pressing play.

It's rare seeing them use something other than coax.
Very cool rig, btw

That's really cool, didn't think much about how much space that would actually take up. Good to see you are valuing ease-of-use over "coolness" factor (while still being cool). Perhaps an Advantage would be fun to have at home

Paypal wants my driver's license, utility bill, and SSN. Any other payment options I can use? Seriously lusting for the skull-and-crossbones tee.
EDIT: nevermind, thank goodness for Visa gift cards.
EDIT: still nope, actually <_< need an alternative solution

Looks like I am going to have to hold out for a MIDINES, might as well considering how long it took for this cart to come out.

The guy has some of the EAGLE files uploaded online, soon the source code should be up too. No doubt we can find a way to make a better ChipMaestro in the months/years to come (with samples and hopefully some sort of audio expansion support).

I don't know how vocal I have been about this, but I am a bit of a Radiograffiti nut. This stuff is super sick. Everyone needs to at least check it out, if not buy stuff.

Re: Cover Song Licensing? (30 replies, posted in General Discussion)
This is like that deadmau5 track DJ Cutman did an edit thing of a while back - you have to pay per download/free purchase, and there are rules and restrictions that define how much you pay per unit (download/purchase/whatever). If I recall DJ Cutman followed the rules and nothing bad happened.
