still working on that part. smile
It might end up being mounted to my version of the sid2sid board.

Bring it on, that sounds much better, as it's pretty pointless having one of these unless you have sid2sid, although I'd test it thoroughly since on 8580 boards there's bugger all space for the current sid2sid as it is.

Ok,  but should I want to install a SID2SID with 8580s, how can I reduce the voltage?

so I bought another C64 after discovering that there was a fault on the board and not the SID itself, and I got one of these C64C with a large board and a 6581. http://www.cling.gu.se/~cl3polof/c64mb/ … 0466-1.jpg
I plugged in my old 8580 thinking that it was dead, just to experiment and the thing worked absolutely fine.
How?
Will it just fry the chip if I leave it in there?
Kind of bummed now though, I have 2 spare 8580s doing nothing, would I be able to install SID2SID on this board with 2 x 8580s despite it's differences to a normal short board.

mix on headphones, then monitors, then headphones again, and then monitors
you need to find the balance between both

Dweeble, with the help I gave you on IRC did you get your drumkit working?
I'm here if you need any help with Ableton stuff, always willing to share knowledge smile
I can also share or make presets for people if they are in need of something specific.

I use Ableton for all of my music, and it was the first DAW I chose when I started out 2-3 years ago.
I learnt with a friend, with trial and error, mostly making terrible acid house and noise.
Since then I've used almost all of the commercially available DAWs in a studio environment, and nothing compares for an easy creative process.
I'm still to try out Max for live, it really interests me, but it's time and effort to learn something new with so much going on right now.

Tell a lie, i've just discovered their Ebay shop, and I have dealt with them before, they have a 99.9% Ebay rating.
I always check amigakit and vesalia and i've never seen them stock them, just accelerators.

Guys, keep your eyes on this thread.

A VST interface that is compatible with ableton, apparently out today.

My C64 is out of order at the moment but I'll write up a little guide for Ableton users if this VST doesn't surface.

Thanks for the info Akira. I think i'll probably end up just getting a ram expansion, an accelerator does seem overboard on my measly budget, a games nd I of course only want to play games and track on it.

Has anyone had any business with this website? http://www.analogic.co.uk/Amiga_Addons& … rades.html
It's the only place I managed to find an upgrade from, amibay, lemonamiga and ebay are all desolate sad

filtered house not allowed? can't think of anything more chilled really.

I was doing some research on tracking and I came across this awesome bit of kit in a presentation by Necros (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_CCpg5VQ4k - well worth the watch, it's pretty much a tutorial for Buzz)

Has anyone used it before?
I've been using it for about a week and you can get some great results from it!

Or just plug the headphone jack into your mic jack. Yes, I've done this before.

lol. big_smile

..or you could simply use the "record stereo output" function in Audacity.
It records directly the soundcard output.
I usually use it to sample stuff from films and videogames.

Certain motherboards don't support this function.

I think you should perhaps learn a little about audio recording, equipment and both software.
A good place to stop at is Wikipedia.
This is also a good place to find (very basic) info on recording audio on a pc.
http://www.pcrecording.com/
A good knowledge of the right cabling is good too. (eg the difference between different TRS connectors)

If you're using an emulator I'd recommend using BGB to record your audio and not the 'headphone output to mic input' option, as it exports directly to WAVE and you'll avoid any noise from USB or perhaps your powersupply, assuming that you don't have knowledge of audio grounding.
This is also good if you want to make adjustments to your LSDJ mix in realtime as you will be able to listen to your song as you record in BGB.
Make sure that you record at 44.1khz or higher, with 16-bit audio or your sound will suffer.

To convert your WAVE file you will need to get an encoder and a bit of software that enables conversion.
Download LAME encoder (http://lame.sourceforge.net/download.php) and Audacity (or alternatively Foobar2000*) and get that shit changed!

*possibly the greatest media player ever, can play ALL chiptunes, modules, audio, and can convert to whatever you please in bulk.
