dude, that's awesome. i was hoping you'd get the ms2000.
so, this is a trick i learned that's really cool/important. there's a frequency setting where you set the low end and high end of the frequencies for a sound. most of the sounds are set at ~300, which will make the bass sounds pushy on the mid-bass frequencies but not have the heavy low bass thump. you should go in and set the bass frequencies to be at 80 or below and then have the drive up a little on them. also, the high end amp is usually set with too much drive and lower than it should be. i think they were trying to make the sounds for leads but since your gonna use this for other parts you def. need to adjust the freq first thing when you make a patch. the digi basses are really awesome once you adjust the freq. i'm excited for you!
i used to have similar problems with my midines. certain midi sequences would overload it. i also think the cart might overheat and need some time to reset. it was buggy.
my advice is to give it a shot every once in a while and if it works have a jam session.
drum synthesis is a little different than other sounds. it's really fun once you get the hang of it. the software can also do really strong synth sounds too.
i really recommend this software to anyone interested in synthesizing their own drum sounds. -> http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/archive/attack.html

as if the thread isn't derailed enough, you come out of nowhere saying that.
heeeeeere we go
sorry. i think the best way to get into chip music is with a free tracker. that way, you can get free sounds and you can look at how songs are built. figuring out song structure from scratch can be very difficult. you can also see what wav forms look like and how different fx effect them.

yes, the microkorg is the same internally as the korg ms2000. it's much smaller and you change one parameter set at a time using the large knob. the keyboard is toy-small. it's really cool but is time consuming to program relative to the ms2000.
the gaia looks and sounds good. the dsi mohpo sounds great but you'll need to record your parts separately. i think the meeblip sounds junky (i didn't like it compared to the other two). the arturia sounds really good.
i had a korg ms2000 for a long time. it was great but i just looked on ebay and it's price is the same as a few years ago. if you can get one of the rack versions of those for ~250 that would be a good deal.

flash & flixel for code
grafx2 for pixels
milkytracker for music
thanks
well, it's kind of tough to tell if it's the cart or the nintendo but it would just crash or freeze randomly. there was something it didn't like with midi that would crash it but i can't remember what it was. it was less reliable than an nes game.
still, it did work sometimes and enough to have some great jam sessions with it. if you wrote a song you'd be able to record it.
one time my friend and i ran it from a monomachine. you can set the midines to change the screen colors. it was really fun.
droplet is a great game. what did you use to make it?
that's too ****ing weird man. lol!
i was worried when i bought my midines that the guy would just take my money but it did come.
it worked well enough but i wouldn't gig with it.
this was maybe four years ago.
