Cassette players.  Boombox, walkman, "tape drive", whatever.  I love cassettes and while cry the day I don't have a tape deck in my vehicle.

Also reading anything by Frank Herbert or William Gibson but there's nothing "geeky" about that... right? wink

You and me both!

I love bowling too... i suck at it, but it's a lot of fun..

You don't know how accurate that picture is. I'm utterly obsessed by The Big Lebowski. Utterly. So much it would scare you. What the fuck, we're all friends here, right?

- i made one of those Time mirrors, it's hanging in our hall
- a friend knitted me a dude cardigan (it was a charity thing)
- i've lost count the number of times I've seen the film
- i could quote you any line in the film and probably quote something every day
- i have a totally complete music soundtrack in chronological order (there's only about half of the songs on the OST CD)
- i have an assortment of Lebowski toys
- attended the first UK Lebowski Fest (come back please!)
- i made 3 prints from the film, Dude, Walter and Donny's heads in the scene with Jesus - I used them to put into picture-frame speakers and they are the rear surround speakers in our lounge
- my right arm tattoo is a Big Lebowski sleeve (burning car, Maude as the Valkerie, a marmot on a lead, Bunny sat in a white russian, Seattle 7 "logo', scissors, "no funny stuff" in cut-out newspaper letters, bowling pins, 50's style neon stars, clams and bones, a $1000 bill.....and I have a severed toe with the banner "Bunny" on my leg)
- we had white russian cup cakes for our wedding cake

I could go on but I think that's enough damage big_smile

We'd get along just fine. wink
That movie is the shit. It's on my iPod so i can watch it when ever i want. smile

by the way i would like to point out that burning a hole with your soldering iron is not a good move, you will make some horible fumes, remember the gameboys are made in the 80s before health and safety was "the new thing" and so they give off some pretty toxic fumes.

also you will ruin your soldering iron. the iron is made of a copper tip that is coated to protect the copper, if you damage that outer layer you will find the copper inside starts to fall apart.

how i make holes is:

start with a dremal-like rotary tool, they are very cheap and easy to come by and have loads of useful attachements like sanding shapes and cutters, they are great for cutting straight lines as well as holes and the sanders are good for just removing that last bit of plastic at the bottom of something. they are well worth it so it is worth spending a bit of money, i have had cheap ones before and one actually melted itself in half!

once you have got the hole where you want it, make the hole larger by a slightly larger drill bit in either a hand powered drill or battery drill. keep stepping up the drill bits to the size you want. this will help to keep the hole neat, and stop the plastic from cracking etc.

then you can use a round sander from your rotary tool, or a counter sink bit for your drill, to indent the hole to make it look a bit neater.

i used exactly this same routine to cut some extra button holes in my SP, see pic:

I agree totally. haha. .was just saying.. it is the cheapest way of doing it. haha
with out having to buy anything. other than the soldering iron he already has if he's gunna do an output mod to a gb.
har har

Big Shipment of CD's going out tomorrow. Sorry for the delay guys!
Thanks for all the support! Keep it coming! L-Tron FTW!

Apologize?

How about ... No.

And in the future when you take over a project, communicate with the artsts involved better.
Dont rely on a public forum that can be changed by the original poster at any given time to supply the artists with the updates/status of the comp.

because as you can see with the first post of this thread... it has changed.. and provides NO information about what the plan is for this comp.. etc.

I really don't appreaciate people jumping around and accusing me without knowing what the situation is....especially when the discussion is about money....and when in reality i'm actually paying more than I would ever get, without ever asking anything in return.....!!!!

Low-gain, I'm sorry but there's no money for anyone here.....
I'm not doing this for the money, i'm doing this just because I like it ....!!!!
Noone ever mentioned a profit...before you did....
I don't like the whole issue here.....and I hate having to be apologetic without a proper reason....

I'm sorry all this had to go out in public...but I got really frustrated when I read today's discussion and whining in the thread...and I wanted to clarify things for everyone interested.......

the worst thing for me in life is when you make effort for a common cause...without any self interest...and in the end....someone blames you for whatever issue...pffff....blew this....

To be honest, I'm not in the mood now to work anymore on this ....but I know cancelling the whole thing would be lame....
soooo.....since I have also other things going on in my life...and finding time to work for this release wasn't the easiest thing....i'm stopping all efforts for the physical release....

I'll upload the compilation  later on error code...and whoever wants can go  download it for free.......

lowgain, if you want your track out of the online version of the comp...just let me know....

No one accused you of anything man... But if you're such an experienced individual for doing releases for Non-Profit purposes..
then a simple email asking me (and the rest of the people on the comp) if it was OK that you sell a physical release w/ my track on it, explaining that it's a not-for-profit release would have been nice.

And dont pull that "i'm not in the mood now to work anymore on this"  and make me out to be the bad guy.

tell you what i'll make it easy. Take me off the release and do what ever you want.

Re: Analog...
this comp was put together publicly, and apparently announced it would be done via a physical release publicly, so why can't the details of this be discussed publicly??

why the fuck am i being made out to be the bad guy here...
I simply dont want someone to be selling hardcopy releases with my material on it w/o some kind of contract being figured out.
That's not to say i want money. it's to say that while this is a physical release that people will have to pay for, it's a non-profit project, and that the person selling/releasing that comp will not make a profit off of the people who submitted a track to it.

You can't just say. "there might be a physical release" and expect anyone who submits is totally open to it being sold w/o further discussion.

If a physical release is being made to sell. Than EVERY contributor should be contacted via email and permission should be given by each person on the comp.

*flips on the capslock*

THERE HAS BEEN 0 COMMUNICATION ON THIS BEHIND CLOSED DOORS OR VIA PUBLIC FORUM

So excuse me if i pop on to find out that all of a sudden a track that i submitted for a comp months ago, is now all of a sudden going to press and will be made available for sale and i have yet to receive a single email asking me if this is ok.

I'll state this again. this isn't about me making money. this isn't about me making profit. But when money is involved with regards to a musical release, there had better be some communication about all the details of how the money is to be handled... be it for profit, or non-profit.

As stated, I'll just make things easier, since apparently i'm the only one who wanted to know wtf was going on w/ regards to a physical release...
Take me off this compilation and do what ever you want to do..

The possibility of a "CDr" release was mentioned in the original post but unfortunately it's been edited.  sad  I like the concept of the "not-for-profit" release but as with anything non-profit it will be hard to PROVE that that is the case if it really comes down to it.

Since you say part of the packaging is being hand made I'm going to guess the total run of cds will be fairly small... so maybe the potential for profit is to small to worry about?

Profit is profit..
And i prefer to avoid having money made off me, when i'm not making anything off me.

Easiest solution is to have those on the comp chip in to cover the costs of producing the physical copies and splitting the run up amongst the artists
appropriately.

Issue here is not everyone will want to pay out to have this done.. Which again, is why this stuff should have been discussed before hand with everyone.

how many copies will artists on the comp be getting?
I typically buy in 25 (1 box) copies on comps that i'm involved in...
But thats at an artist rate.

So it would be good to know how many i'm getting for free and if i can obtain more if need be.
