It will be nice to see some of you guys. haven't seen ya in a while!
*points fingers at L-Tron and Arfink*
Just finished my Gorf Sequencer last night ( http://www.vacoloco.net/synths/gorf/ )
This little sequencer is pretty cool. I think it will be a very nice addition to the set up once i get it synced w/ LSDJ or Piggy.
I am just curious if there are any other Gorf Sequencer users on these forums?
He isn't selling the kits anymore but if there is a strong enough interest, i might get pcb's made as i want to
make a few more of these for myself and as gifts to some friends.
The acrylic cases can be had for 38GBP.
anyways. just curious.
here are some pictures of mine
Tired of seeing all the talk about other shows going on... SHORT CIRCUIT IS THIS WEEKEND! WOOO HOOO
lol
2. Gorf sequencer: another open-source AVR-based music device developed by a fellow named Paul living in the UK. He's done some great work, but looking at his PCBs, I noticed they use parts that are a little tricky to find here in the States. Redo the boards with a few modifications for easier-to-obtain parts and a more readily available case (his uses a custom laser-cut polycarb enclosure) and a few more North Americans can see this puppy in action. Problem is I really don't feel like doing another "improve on someone else's idea" project. It feels too much like cheating.
And if i am reading correctly from his site...
it's protected under the GPLv3
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/quick-guide-gplv3.html
this means if you release a modified version of these files, you must release the code/revisions to the public as well.
You can get the acrylic cases from Chris via emailing him (PM me for his address). He cuts to order. Really nice guy!
The only thing i can see what would be a little tricky to get would be the pushbuttons. but i think even those might be obtainable via Mouser/Digikey. i haven't looked up the manufacturer.
The 1 thing i would change on his design is the PSU circuit and connector. Other then that it's a great little sequencer! Paul did a great job.
I dont see much more reason to modify this. everything is on his website for users to build them DIY style.
SO perhaps moving on to a different project is in order. Let us chat in private on some ideas.. perhaps we can do some joint efforts.
It would appear that a couple packages have not yet reached their destination. Both addresses are in Great Britain. If you also have not received your package yet, please let me know. I'm not quite sure what I can do about it, but hopefully I'll think of something.
thats why i only shipped registered mail to UK cuz they like to lose things in customs all the time.
costs like $30 flat price, but it's worth it in the end. and besides.. their moneys are worth more then ares. let'em pay a littlemore for proper shipping!
paid for and downloaded... OMG.. finally some well produced music. :-D Thanks man! Still want to get you up to Minnesota for a show sometime!
*Bump*
1 weeeeeek
WOOOOOOOOOT!!!!
You really want to miss this?
Fly me out and I wont miss it. hahahaha
yeah, i guess if its friday or monday, you have two options: do friday, but not all day and leave the bill close to how it is (maybe 2-4 more tops), or monday and still do all day...may get better turnout on friday, though you could fit in fewer artists
agreed.
so people just say who they want and they get it?
weird...
I said myself, and you dont see me on the bill. lol
then again.. i'm expensive.
if you have any soldering skills.. take a stereo 1/8" to 1/8" male.. cut off one end.. take your L and R wires and solder 1k resistors in series with each signal wire on one side of each resistor. Then take the other sides of the resistors and solder them together to your Tip of the 1/4" plug.
then connect ground as normal. That will sum Left and Right so that you dont have channel loss from panning. and it's all enclosed in 1 cable!
Similar to this (this is a 3 to 1 mixer, the stereo to mono is basically a 2 to 1)
SOLD SOLD !!!
Woohoo!
I'm in talks with the venue again to see the possibility to move this to Sunday May 30th...
We want the biggest turnout possible and a lot of people have already expressed discomfort with this gig being booked on a Monday Holiday....We'll see what we can do.... , it's a long shot but i'm gonna try to work something out with them...
..... It will be fine..... Just another credit card i'm gonna have to max out.... LOL, hopefully not...
Nothing is worth maxing out a credit card.
your turnout will suffer due to a booking on a work night. just a thought.
people dont want to party all night to awesome music then wake up at 7am to go to work the next day.
