I've released a free album with 12 of my older PC/Amiga tracker tunes. Enjoy!

Yeah, the Blizzards seem to be the way to go if you want to put more oomph into your Amiga. If you're interested in demos, an 060 enables you to watch recent high-end Amiga stuff at acceptable framerate (f.ex. the TBL and Elude stuff). They're damn expensive though, don't expect to get one for anything less than a few hundred US$/Euros, even second-hand. Apart from demos I'm not really sure what benefit you'd gain from an accelerator card; it probably won't hurt for Hively Tracker, but you'd have to decide for yourself if that's worth it.

I always found the NES sound to be rather dull, but still this production managed to surprise me. Well yeah, of course they picked tracks that would fit the limitations, and it's probably still off - but this thing almost managed to convince me I wasn't listening to a C64 at all tongue

The demo compo at X was amazing enough, but hearing everyone gasp at every new effect (me included tongue) was quite extraordinary big_smile

And for the record, Suzanna Vega was probably chosen because this particular track served as some kind of benchmark during the development of the MP3 format (the track apparently is a bitch to compress with acceptable quality).

The whitepaper - where Mahoney goes into more depth about how he realized the effects - is also worth reading (or skipping through tongue). http://www.livet.se/mahoney/c64-files/C … vesson.pdf

Coordinated by tracker group Chimera Music and released at the Evoke 2010 demoparty last weekend, "Bits 'n' Pieces 2" contains 21 tunes in total, making up for almost an hour of tracked chip music.
Artists involved are, in alphabetical order: Alpha C, coda, Jakim, Joule, ko0x, Malmen, Michu, MrGamer, Okeanos, Rayko, Xyce and Yozfitz.

The release is distributed as a musicdisk - for those not so familiar with the ways of demoscene/tracker scene, it's basically a compilation distributed as an executable binary, featuring a GUI to listen to and browse through the tunes. Bits 'n' Pieces 2 should run fine on any non-prehistoric PC running Windows, although a Linux port and an online version should be ready soon-ish as well.

We hope you'll enjoy the tunes smile
