a couple times I've had success fixing horizontal lines by applying pressure on the ribbon connection on the underside of the lcd with some leftover foam pieces that had come out of old gameboys when doing the backlight mod.

never throw those little pieces away you never know when you might need them!

you prolly already know this check the ribbon connections.

with a few of mine, after I did the backlight mod I saved all those little foam pieces.

I used one of those foam pieces as a wedge to apply more pressure on the ribbon connection and that was enough on one to get rid of the horizontal dead pixels

I'm not saying you were lazy or didn't look things up, but making a forum topic should not be an alternative to looking things up on your own.

and don't know if you're aware of it ^ but you just contradicted yourself

As long as the terms are specific, I don't see a reason not to look them up yourself.

you see I did try that on a few things and came up with dead ends.----> which is why I would ask.

Geez, on all these forums I've been on when you ask a newbie question everybody wants to jump your ass and call you lazy and scream about google.
Did you not stop to think I tried that first and didn't get anywhere so maybe I would ask the so called experts?

sorry to anyone who I offended by humbly asking for a little bit of knowledge.

well, it's not when you have no clue about electronics to begin with

and I mean specifically about modding gameboys. I'd rather not trash a bunch of pcbs before I start doing the mods right. Im on limited funds.

Im pretty new to the circuit bending/modding.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good read/tutorial/basics of/ messing with circuit boards and electronics?

I've been looking around on here and it all seems to be just about the specific mods you can do to your consoles.
Sometimes I don't know what people are talking about when they use specific terms and what not.

thanks.

funny thing, just tried this gameboy again for the hell of it and now the screen isn't black and is working normal. hhhmmm.

hopefully it continues to work without problems. I'll have to check it out more thoroughly later when I have time.
