I've never heard of pixel sorting! This stuff is crazy.
Had to try it out:

Yeah! Pixel sorting rules. It gets a little hairy and really difficult to predict how certain processes will effect the image, but I have a blast with it.

I've been doing a bunch of databending for the past few years. Recently I've been getting more into pixel-sorting though.

Great for album art! Haha.

My whole portfolio is here.

This is all really pretty. Nice work!

In Audactiy, my general rule of thumb is to not even touch the first five seconds of audio.
Of course smaller files will have smaller headers, but I like working with large images.

I think Disasterpeace used to produce his songs in Reason.

I'm pretty sure this is correct.  I saw an interview where he said he started in Ableton then moved over to Reason at some point.

Generally when I'm shooting for databending, I'll leave some room in the shot for where the header will be so I don't have to worry about it too much.  I love the colors in that image though.

And I agree: subtlety is key.

Are you using Audacity?

Haha, I know it's ridiculous.  It's just more about limiting myself than anything.
Too many options has me building sounds for way too long instead of actually writing music.

I use Ableton.  I've just been using it for such a long time that moving into the fakebit realm just felt really natural.

I literally only use these VSTs along with Ableton's Operator.

I've been really into databending for the past year or two, and this seemed like the perfect place to find other people who have been experimenting with it as well!  Anyone have any really cool techniques they've been using?  Personally, I use Audacity and add the most subtle effects I can possibly produce then layer them on top of one-another.

I absolutely love the imperfection that comes with glitching up an image.  Although you know what each individual effect does, there's still an excitement that comes with waiting for the image to save just to see the outcome.

Loving the first one.  It feels much more cohesive.

Ahh cool, thanks a ton.  It really means a whole bunch!

If you guys have any critiques, I'd love to hear them.

Ba-BAM!  Super fakebit album I've been working on for the past few months.

Inspired heavily by a myriad of things like Sigur Ros and Cloud Atlas.

I know the crowd here isn't really into the whole fakechip thing, but I thought I'd throw the album up here anyway just to see if anyone would be into it:

If you download it, there are also three alternate versions of the album art that you'll receive.  All in all, I had a great time making this record.  Even if you all hate it, I'm glad its out there.

We don't need to tear this dude apart.
Providing some serious criticism and helping him move in the right direction is really what should be going down here.

I dug the tune enough, but I agree with most of what's been said here, including the Youtube comment.
Bringing the shots in much tighter and using quicker cuts could really help keep the tension and legitimacy of the fight up.
