Thanks for the bump, I had never read this particular interview.

snesei, did you saw the manual? Seams that only one type is working.

The current manual shows several carts that are tested with it and a couple of them are listed as working. He recommends the EZFlash1 as the easiest option, though.

The live features are really neat. Overall, this seems really well designed. The preview playback is a bit unstable and the WAV channel still doesn't seem to be fully implemented but this is extremely promising!

Yeah, the newest Fami beta has 5B support and can do some nice speccy-esque stuff.

Klystrack can do some really neat stuff, I always want to hear more music made with it so that's my vote.

a) Sidwizard/Kerberos/C64/Monitor

b) Rubicon Intro - Jeroen Tel (not that I don't know how to do it but I couldn't go without listening to it)

c) Xyno, that kid is too talented and too much fun.

On Windows 10 an easier way of working with EMS carts is to install a virtual machine running Windows XP. No messing with driver incompatibilities.

I have a USB-Boy from them and it doesn't work with any of the suggested DAW.

All the products I've gotten from them have been very unreliable and would flat out just be DOA.

The two are similar in terms of functionality, if you can, try it in Logic Pro X. It's the ONLY DAW it works in for me.

If it works in one DAW and not another it's very unlikely that the arduinoboy is defective, more likely just that the MIDI configuration is different between the software.

Hi guys,

I recently got a Thursday Customs Midi Arduino boy and I've been trying to sync it up with ableton. Needless to say I haven't been having any luck so could someone please post a crash course on the basics?

My setup is like this:
Ableton on macbook
iConnectMIDI2 connected up to Thursday Customs Midi boy and plugged in via usb to mac
Midi boy connected to gameboy

Thanks!

Ensure that LSDJ and the arduinoboy are in the correct, matching mode (MASTER, SLAVE, KEYBOARD, LIVEMAP or MIDIOUT). If you're outputting MIDI from Ableton Live, ensure that Ableton Live is sending only the MIDI messages you need (if you're in sync mode make sure nothing but sync data is being sent, if you're using LIVEMAP make sure sync is not being sent, etc).

Also, I know it should be obvious but make sure that the MIDI OUT from your iConnect is going to the MIDI IN of your Arduinoboy, and vice versa.

I received my Kerberos yesterday. Managed to get it working close-to-perfect, but not all the way to goal. My remaining problem is that some note on/note off events are missed. This goes for two different midi keyboards (Roland A300 Pro and MicroKORG XL) combined with all the midi enabled applications on the cart as well as Station 64. Sid wizard too, even with the NameSoft device emulation enabled. Same result on my C128DCR as well as my C64 Reloaded.

When playing the keyboards, most of the note events are received and correctly processed. I can play melodies and chords. But, approximately one out of 50 events are missed, making it unsuitable for performance.

Anyone else suffering from this?

I have the same issue but far, far less common. One in every thousand note-off events are missed but I've set a button on my keyboard to kill all notes in case that does happen during a performance.

Are you using a very long midi cable, a passive midi-thru box or anything else that might cause more events than normal to fail?

I know noone cares much about DefleMask here, but anyway, the new version with ARCADE configuration (YAMAHA YM2151 + SEGA PCM soundchips) was just released.

I don't often use DefleMask myself but I always recommend it as an option to people who are looking for chiptune trackers. It's fantastically full-featured and powerful. The new YM2151 + SEGA PCM mode sounds like another great feature.

I have a C64 C already so Kerberos doesn't sound so bad.

So can I use a DAW like FL Studio to control the C64\SID via MIDI? Obviously I would have to create the sounds on a C64 software. I'm kind of worried about the noise coming from the C64 (though there are a few modifications you can make to mitigate it).

Grounding the audio-in pin will make the biggest difference, generally. They left it floating, for some reason.

I'd be interested in looking at this again. I remember at the time I last checked it out it was finicky about emulators and sav files or something like that. What are you folks using to run it? Does it work well with a Powerpak?

Yeah, I just figured this out, thanks. It wasn't telling me that other colours were available. I don't really care what colour it is. tongue

Any eta on when the Joey Squinson's might be back in stock? They appear in stock until I add it to my cart and try to purchase it, at which point it tells me they're sold out.
