Being a java program it should run on any operating system with the correct version of Java installed. What version of Java are you running?

MSSIAH was designed to be easy and 'musical'. Some of the design choices of the software aren't based on fully harnessing the SID but instead making it hard to fuck stuff up. Unless you know what you're doing a very thin pulse width will sound bad, even then it'll be less commonly used than a pulse width closer to 50/50. My guess is that a range of pulse widths were chosen based on the use-case of a 'traditional' music tool.

If you're ever in Toronto, give me a shout!

If you're doing anything with the GPIO, don't forget about the P5 header, it provides an additional I2C and more GPIO pins!

I've gotten bit-banged MIDI input/output working via an atmega spi slave. I don't think it's the optimal way of doing it, but it seems to work and be robust enough to handle what I'm doing with it.

For those of you with an old parallel port flasher, don't forget that USB parallel ports are dirt cheap and are generally compatible with the old cart flasher software.

Chip music is a very wide spectrum of aesthetics. Sure, trends in genre, technique and style come and go and some appeal to me more than others but there have always been people doing things I like and I doubt that I'll ever fall out of love with chiptune music.

Very interested in playing around with the AY-3-8912, I'd love some advice on the optimal hardware model as well as any software you'd recommend.

Also, any quirks or stumbling blocks to keep an eye out for? Is there a way of hooking a null modem or SD card to it to load and save data?

Amazing! Checking it out now!

Google Play doesn't require a middleman. They allow you to distribute for free or sell any amount of your music and you can opt-in for their new 'all access' service for which you get paid royalties per play.

Thanks for bumping, I'd never seen this before. I'd love to use this. :3

Edit: Wait, what sort of clothing should I wear while using this software, though?

You did something similar back in the day with a Sinclair ZX Spectrum and a dot matrix printer, right? Super rad stuff, keep it up.

Edit: For those who haven't seen the aforementioned awesomeness

Also consider that clubs/bars all effectively play music in mono.

Although, in my experience, venues that are oriented towards electronic music seem to be more likely to have a real stereo setup.
