Because their development worlds do not revolve around chipmusic.org?

Because people want to be able to have manual control over the wavetable progression?

also i have a question, is there any way i can get lsdj keyboard to play PU1 and 2 simultaneously? i want to play a phasing sound by detuning PU1 vs PU2. works great in normal composition mode. would love to figure out a way to get it to play with the keyboard.

That would be a pretty awesome function and open up lots of doors for interesting tones for performance ;O

What's going on with those vocals? Is that super autotuned or some kind of talk box?

From the comments section:
"It's actually a hardware vocoder with a gameboy hooked up to it.  The gameboy is running lsdj (music sequencer that runs on a gameboy) and I've programmed in vocal melodies and effects that I sing over. It's synced with the other gameboys so they all run at the same time and the vocals come in exactly where I want. Didn't use any software (unless you count lsdj) it's all generated on gameboys smile -MattGraveyTrain  "

Oooh, I remember the Run n Pun project. I think i have some of the mp3s from that on my phone. Nice to see it's still going(?) smile

tl;dr: Post your favorite clips, releases, videos, etc, of LSDj Keyboard playing big_smile

I've seen a few people talking about doing lsdj keyboard mods and such, but videos and audio clips of people actually using it to play music seems really hard to find. A brief youtube search seems to bring mostly "demos" of people playing random notes and changing parameters and such to show the functionality of it, as opposed to creating an actual musical performance. There must be more than "testing the lsdj keyboard mod" tech demos out there. Bring on the music! big_smile

Glad you guys like! Might be a while before I have time to do a recording session for the guitar/vocals, but I'll definitely share when I do.

A lot of chip + guitar stuff I've heard tends to have the guitar just sounding like some sort of background noise that distracts from the chiptune elements without being audibly present enough to justify being included in the track. At least in my opinion. Beware of that.

Good suggestion! I try to keep the chiptune stuff out of the range of the guitar (mostly higher pulse channels and lower WAV channel), but it's hard to hear before putting it all together.

Yes, yes, very good. Another thing to consider, which is possibly even more important, is the tone and EQ of the guitar. Using a live band as an analogy; the bassist holds down the low frequencies so the guitarist generally should not have his bass knob turned up too high, as that will get in the way of the bass and kick drum.

Guitar distortion clips the guitar signal, causing it to "square off", which means it's important to manage your guitar's tone so that it doesn't get swallowed up in the rectangular pulse waves of your gameboy.

This is sweet! Can't wait to hear the full version. I just want to suggest mixing your guitar so it's nice and clear and doesn't get lost in the mix. Sounds awesome. What's the diff between analog sync and the other kind of sync?

Excuse my ignorance (it's been a while since I've written anything in FamiTracker), but does pure 2a03 mean four channels?

2a03 is the stock NES sound chip. 2 pulse channels, triangle channel, noise channel and DPCM.

1 track in... definitely the type of music that justifies a selling price, imo. Good job! Sound design is keen

Hey aZu, I wasn't aware of my cart glitching out like that. Can you PM me with the specifics? If it's a bad cart I'll send you another.

Also, I may have found a cheaper source of flash carts. I've got some inbound for testing. If all goes well I'll have 1, 2 & 4 mbyte carts with 128k + 256k SRAM for half the price of existing BennVenn carts.

Definitely interested in these!

Yes, kitsch-bent is as credible as they come.

Never heard of the BennVenn. Sounds really cool. And you say that it's more reliable than EMS? I like the classic look of it. I see that the linker just allows you to transfer save files, and I'd need the reader/writer to actually flash roms to it, but still... seems pretty cool.

I know this is a bit off-topic, but I hope someone ports virtual boy games to the oculus rift and etc

I like this. 1/4 of the way through the first track and I'm already hooked. So simple but so good... so effective.
