I've got my first show in three weeks and would like to have another backlit/prosound DMG for it, so I'm don't think there's enough time to send it to one of the mod shops and get it back in time. So if someone can offer one to me (or can mod one of mine in time), let me know. I'm not looking to pay eBay prices, heh, I can use a Nuby Light in that case.

Hey PixyJunket...I'm working on some right now, so if I have some ready in time I'll let you know. I gots your back if nothing comes thru wink

lol...I guess you'll be one PCB short now, because of this tutorial....I'm gunna try this for sure! wink

but. but... multi-meters are coooooool!

And you can probably find one for less than the price of two of those cables...lol

Why are you guys buying keyboard adapters? you pull out the old keyboard cable and replace it with a DMG-07 cable or original link cable.

^lol

Just figured the Dell Model RT7D20 color code! Yay, my first LSDJ keyboard! hehe wink

DMG O7-----------Keyboard

Dell Model RT7D20

UPDATED:
Some observations... Think I'm on the right track this time. I'm getting the (CAPS LOK/NUM LOK/SCROLL/LOK) Led's to blink from the Keyboard steady now...kinda

Variation #1

(PS/2)       (DMG 07)
Brown       -      Yellow
White       -      Blue
Green       -      Green
Pink         -       Brown
(^ Just get a steady blink from the LED's)

Variation #2

(PS/2)       (DMG 07)
Brown       -      Yellow
White       -      Green
Green       -      Blue
Pink         -       Brown
(^ LED's Blinking very bright once, then it goes out. Good sign?)

I'm running with Windows XP -tablet PC ver. When I boot it up in 'Safe Mode' it makes you go to the name/password screen. I don't what other name or p/w to put in. We log on with our user name, when we use the computer. The trouble is User Mode is the only mode we can successfully be in. I can't hook up any peripherals obviously, because "You need Administrative  Access"

I started tinkering with some wires...I think The Pink (Im saying pink cuz its more pink than red)is what carries the power from the DMG brown wire. I hooked up pink (KB) - Brown (DMG) and the LED's on the KB start blinking...I think that's a good sign, so far?

I don't think the one from Kitsch is the right link you need for this (no +5 v line)...I'm no genius, but I would try using the official standard DMG-07 cable...probably get one for around $10 on eBay.

And when you cut the cable from the DMG-07 pcb.. feel free to mail me the pcb :-D teehee

Low-Gain...no problem! I have 6 or 7 DMG-07's with PCB's you can have em all. And I have several in the mail as we speak..lol

Thretris...I'm just going to take my chances on this one. I really hope it works cuz we can post the color sequence on your tutorial hopefully smile It's only four freakin wires I think I can do it.lol. I actually jumped ahead and just roughly connected some wires that kinda made sense...and the keyboard's led lights flickered a bit when I turned the Game boy on...So far so good.

Btw ppl...Anyone know if its possible to damage or short circuit a keyboard, by messing with wires while the DMG is on? I know probably a dumb question...but I have done that to test out what wires work...maybe that was my problem last time??? Can this be possible??? Should I not do that...ever? Or is it ok to mess with the wires when everything is on and connected? I assume bad for the Gameboy...but what about the KB?

Never used a continuity or multimeter or circuit tester before...But I own all three of them. Here's to trying them out...Any suggestions on how-to test the wires with these tools? I get the concept, but I'm not sure what side of the wires need to be exposed to test what to what?? I've seen a good diagram of the wire breakdown on some Ps/2 connectors...I still not sure how to go about testing with multimeters and such.... Can someone help me out? Feel free to PM me... I'll send you free gameboy stuff to barter with you time. If anyone else has success with the wire set-up on this Dell model (RT7D20) please post here. Thanks chip ppl!
