So...I'm done with my track and have uploaded it in the music section.

I think I'm the only one so far. I hope it won't stay that way. wink

Now it's time for you guys to show me/us how it's REALLY done.

I have thought about what the first theme could be and have decided on:

- a dubstep tune

Maybe this style is close to what you guys are already making, but I would like to see how heavy you can make chipmusic sound. For me this style is not even remotely close to anything I've done before, so I'm looking forward to the challenge.

If you like to join me (which I hope some of you will) in trying to make your own heavy dance tune...dubstep style...upload your song to the music section and name it: stylezcollab/dubstep/(name of your song)

Let’s say that we will have until the end of June for this theme, then we will change. Feel free to give me tips for upcoming themes/styles.

I’m really excited about your contribution. smile

Now I’m gonna get started.

Hello again! smile

Time for an update.

First of all, thank you for showing interest in this. I have been looking around a lot on this page and on Botb and now have a few more suggestions.

Many of you say that you don't really visit the music section. Maybe this could be a way to make use of it. We could name our songs: the name of this collaboration/the name of the specific theme or style/the name of the song, and upload them to the music section for listening and comments. That way it would also be easy to search for them.

Saskrotch. I appreciate what you are doing and am not trying to compete with you in any way. What you do probably takes a lot of your time, managing and arranging all the battles. Good work!

I hope for this to be more like an assignment, task or ...mission even, where we can all participate at the same time, without officially selecting a winner. I'm thinking the themes/styles shouldn't be too big...like: "red". I mean, how can you really tell if a song sounds "red"? Or too crazy like: "Jack the Ripper on roller blades". What does that even mean???

Auxcide, "honkeytonk" is in a way a good suggestion. It's not too big outside the US though, which means that some of us would have to do some research, but maybe that's the point?!
We should feel that we have enough time for making the song, and some of you might even have a life beside this wink, so maybe it could be like a monthly assignment?! And if it's a theme you like you join in, otherwise you wait for the next, which will then hopefully be more to your liking. But I'm hoping for us to broaden our horizons here.

Time a for a few more ideas. smile
How about...
-a reggae song with focus on a strong melody
or...
-a remix of a specific classical music piece, for example a piece by Bach, in any style you like? smile We are allowed to remix
classical music without permission (up until the 20th century, I think).

What do you say?

Who makes chipmusic for not fun?

I meant no competition and non-profit.

I am a sidslave though
...and proud of it. smile

they call them battles, but the competitive attitude is non-existent. Botb is a magical place, where everyone can be a loser. XD    Either way though I'm down.

I'd fit right in then. wink

I had a look at Botb. It seemed massive. I didn't really know where to begin. smile I guess I just have to give it more time. Maybe I should start a theme there then?!

Everyone is able to start a "battle" and have others join it, right?!

Thanx for the tip Shiru. I'll check it out. smile

Maybe someone is interested to do it also on this page...but not as a battle?!

Hello everyone! smile

I have an idea, but since I'm new to this place I'm probably not the first one with this idea...or an idea similar to mine.

Anyway...

I'm looking for people who like to make chipmusic for the fun of it.

What do you say we start a "collaboration" where we once in a while post a theme and then each of us make a song based on this theme?! For example...medieval, dubstep, only three sounds playing at once, time limit (48 hours), song length (1 minute),happy or sad, music fitted for a space game, action game or platformer, titlescreen/loading screen/hi-score, a remix of a specific song...whatever that sounds fun and challenging. These are just a few suggestions.

The songs should be created specifically for this...in other words no old songs that you have lying around.

If you are interested, help me make the "rules", since I want you guys involved.

The purpose of this is to create and be able to listen to some great new tracks, challenge ourselves and have fun.

This might also be a good way to listen to several songs and maybe make out the essence in a particular style. "Why does her song sound better than mine?" Hell, we might even learn something from it. smile

What do you think? Are you in?
