I'm not sure if you intend to sell all of this stuff by the lot or if you are open to parting with a few things at a time, but I thought I'd ask if you're open to that. I'm going to be doing some work on a friend's DMG that might have LCD damage (I don't have it in my possession yet, but it looks like the front polarizer could be damaged).
Once I can assess it more clearly, it might be handy to take that backlight-prepped front board off of your hands (at the very least).
I think the problem with this guy isn't his chiptune, it's that he sounds like an asshole.
I didn't want to say, but uh, yeah.
Someone needs to more or less politely tell him that the reason he can't get laid isn't chiptune, and also he is making himself and his scene by association look stupid. Does he post here? Were he to hypothetically read this, my only real suggestion to him would be that he should be a lot more mindful of how he presents himself both as an individual and as a member of our community when doing something like making a documentary about himself or alienating half of his potential audience with a bathos-laden rant.
<Christian> i am the universe, you are rapping in me and on me
<Telerophon> ok I have to keep tying this flow together
<Christian> please rap all over my topology
<Christian> yes
I live in Austin and need a roommate and rent is $500 plus utilities and you sound cool so this would be perfect except for the "I'm not in Toronto" part.
So, if somehow you move to Austin instead, 100% you have a place.
No, the active chip musicians in Austin are organized into a planning committee and work as a group to book shows; that's what I mean when I say "we" in the context of booking and promoting.
we have a Facebook page and a (currently underused) Twitter (@txchipmusic), and we're about to start working on a website.
I don't really have any formal releases at the moment, personally. I need to fix that.
That is also just a really good arrangement of "The World Has Turned and Left Me Here."
For the record, I am being silly. I do not suggest seriously dumping your partner over chiptunes, although if someone in your life really wants to make a big deal out of your creative and enriching hobby, it's probably a warning sign.
There are so many repro board projects that need to happen, and they are all really simple PCBs by most (non-video game) standards. NES boards don't even have to use SMT parts.
Choosing between Chipmusic and a girlfriend/boyfriend/gender-ambiguous friend who hates something that brings you pleasure in life really isn't that hard of a choice.
