Someone should connect this thread to the hole that TCTD left....

Algorithmic recommendations is okay, but human-selected materials is usually way more interesting.
This isn't necessarily a topic about code/design. We should just talk more about what we like, maybe? The tools are already there...

just because 8bc was bad, doesn't mean that the opposite is good?

No no, ASCII-fascists don't accept that term. Please try again.

New release from ???, with design by UI (and a remix by me).
It's two sets - one dub and one hip hop.
You also get to hear his C64-music, which is a real treat!

Stream it and dream it. Or leech it.

Enjoy!

If you're looking for people, the micromap at www.micromusic.net might be a start.
They are bound to be out of date, but it's something.

Might be trickier to find demosceners. But Pouet and CSDb might work?

Ah, okay. There are some players for .SID-files too. I don't know much about them.
Can't test atm, but perhaps this? http://csdb.dk/release/?id=101736

There are many native C64-players that have similar features, but most of them are a bit picky with what music you give them iirc. One example is JCH's Delux Driver: http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=21335

I made a cassette release before it was hip! Or uuh, after it was hip? Or...but... well, it was in 2000 anyway.

I used to use JCH to perform live. It sucks, but it's possible. You can hear it in a release I made called Bortabra. But now I use Defmon. You can use it to make everything from scratch live if you want to. Here's a video of me and my 3 clones doing just that: http://blip.tv/raquel-meyers/2sleep1-005-exedub-5546878 (warning: not edited)

Great find, thanks for sharing! These are some of the heaviest names in computer music, cybernetics and all that at the time. I've added it to this gigantic time line: http://chipflip.wordpress.com/timeline
