If I could write music any other way, I would, if only to get away from the majority of this scene.

I've seen the light in the past year and it's that the future for chipmusicians (assuming they seize it) is to just work harder to integrate themselves individually into irl scenes that aren't the chip scene because the chip scene kind of blows except for when you want to geek out or you have a question about your gear/software/etc.

ex: Chipthrash = harsh noise = noise/hardcore basement scene, and I'm about 500x happier doing my thing there than I am playing to a balloon-filled room of people wearing megaman tshirts and waiting for their turns to play their set with a Sega Master System or whatever.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I hate all of you. wink

Cultivate a scene.

This.

Though lately, I mostly play as the only chip-based hardcore/harsh noise act in otherwise regular hardcore/harsh noise sets, which have their own scenes that are inclusive and welcoming to hearing a gameboy make ear-splitting noise. It's a lot easier to just include yourself into another local scene that's generally welcoming to outsiders than to go the nine yards and make a scene. I'm a regular at a grimy-ass punk house because they're always able to get down to my stuff.

That's incredibly shitty, though. Just losing a Drag n' Derp would kill me.

I thought this was a bump of a thread a while back. I wouldn't mind wearing a cm.o shirt, like a plain white t with the different pink text boxes would be alright, but anything with the site's name on would be strange imo. I think it's weird when people walk around in reddit shirts, or if I ever saw someone walk around in some kind of non-official 4chan merch or whatever. I find the idea of advertising the music you like with the clothes you wear more normal than advertising what sites you visit

Could just be "cm.o"

I'd take mine in black because I use the black background layout on here

My (chip punk) band played with Zammuto (the band that formed after The Books broke up) and we were gonna play with them a second time until the dude himself threw a hissy fit at us about not letting them use all of the space in the venue for the whole night. So I got into a fight with Nick Zammuto from The Books I guess. That's one.

Uhh...I played on college radio a few times.

I contributed a song to the Angry Video Game Nerd's show and the release of his recent film.

I played at a Halloween party that exceeded maximum occupancy on such an insane level that if there had been a fire, maybe 2 people would have made it out the door.

I successfully integrated chipthrash into my local underground music scene and managed to gradually dissociate it from the mario-at-a-rave context.

(These are sounding more like douchey bragging points, sorry.)

Played like a 15 minute set with my band at PAX East, dropped everything and ran out the door to catch the last train home from Boston, missed it, and had to stay up wandering around South Station and outside in Boston all night until 11 AM the next day.

Some of my new lsdj stuff is crashing the gameboy everytime it gets to the buildup so that's complex I guess.

It's the processor. If you write songs with slower BPMs than intended but lower the groove, it improves it.

Chipthrash has officially become the subversive alternative to chiptune
source: Me playing a set the other night in a grimy basement in the middle of an otherwise noise punk show and having it actually go over well, and without hearing "soo...mario music or???"

Checked luggage should be fine. As for the ruling, my best guess is, if you can switch it on and show what it is, they won't care. Especially with a Gameboy. It's also my experience that unless you have brown skin, the TSA just doesn't care. Yes, it's horrifyingly racist and sickening, but that's how it is here. hmm

Confirmed. I was stopped for like 3 hours and they looked through my shit without even letting me say anything or show them what it was. Oh, but they did wipe my palms for bomb residue, so that was nice.
