In essence, it is not super complex - i.e. all the pieces are there - I would just like to minimize the ui as much as possible because that's what takes the most time and I don't really have a lot of it on my hands right now.

Not without a converting device on the other side. Which make, again, everything more complicated.

Always interested to hear people's setup. How would you control things from a small controller ? Gimme details big_smile

Quality thread. I was just looking for blood cycle samples for my [nostro]monotron.

Would you agree about answer 3 and 4? Its what I assumed from usage, but Im realizing I dont know shit.

Not really. The sample 'rendering' is exactly the same. You could see osc loop simply as a convenience setting so that tuning / root key is automatically set.

1) OSC mode makes an assumption that the root pitch is going to be a440, it will scan the waveform and do the pitch for you automatically (You quoted the way it works). More or less. Some waveforms feel pitchier to me so you may have to futz with the base tuning to get it back into the proper tuning as i mentioned in the other thread.
2. A single waveform will be FF in length. Check out the MONORAVE compo for longer waveforms. Read more about the commands in the manual.

Actually this is not at all true big_smile.

Osc mode doesn't care for the tuning nor assume anything for the length of the sample. It uses the sample data's length as a way to determine its pitch (assuming only it's a single cycle) and tunes it from there.

The C# thing looks fishy indeed.

One thing that is important to understand is that the very goal of the oscillator mode (in theory) is not to have to care about the note that was originally played when sampling the cycle. So if you have a single cycle sampled from an A4 note, to get correct pitches you need:

+ In regular loop mode, you should set the root key to A4 to get correct pitches (like in regular samplers)
+ In oscillator mode, you should *leave* root key to C. The oscillator mode re pitches the sample data automatically so it's tuned.

This doesn't explain the case you have where you need to put root key to c#. If you want to send me the project you are using, I could look at it.

Note also that the oscillator mode has been know for heaving tuning quirks since the beginning. It's not enormous but it's there. If I remember well, I had found a way to fix it but most of my song turned into uninteresting mud so I decided to keep it that way.

Hope this clarifies the situation a bit

My PSP doesn't feels sluggish at all compared to other consoles.... but I have fatmsmod installed from back in the days.

I have no idea about it's current state and compatibility but it's definitely something to look at

I had a couple of chats with the sleepless rhino and it seems to make it better

Last caanoo/psp/win builds also have performances improvements

if you took it before now, make sure you pull it again so you have the latest version. The intermediate one had issues (caanoo & psp only at this point).

I'm not sure it loads gp2xmenu even if you autoboot to piggy beecause I didn't try that. I just noticed launching through gpmenu2x is a waste of resource.

Wow, LGPT DRAMA. It's definitely a chiptune tool now.

So to state my point of view:

1- I will not favour decimal over hex. This is not because I want to make it harder for people to use it nor because it's a tracker but simply a question of screen estate. 255 values needs 2 digit in Hex representation and 3 in decimal, so I'll favor clarity and consitency.

2- If there *is* a consistent way of marking loop points in wave files, I'm completely open to implement reading them. AFAIK not many software provide the possibility to store them (Cool edit does I think) but if there's a library format that is generally followed that could be useful. I propose to send me one sample of your emu lib so I can see if it is a hack or not and if it's not, I'll go for it.

There used to be an issue with SDL and some internal relink with XCode. Could you try downloading the latest ghetto at the bottom of the page and see if that works ?
