So this is the zeigler design using this transfer pak's case and cartridge slot? Neat, I'll be down for one.
Yep. Exactly. Sorry but I won't be selling this.

They are different, but still relevant. I was thinking scour the pak guts and see if there is enough to stand alone and replace the controller connector with something more practical. Wishful thinking, if the only good part is the cart connector, but that's still something.
Thanks for posting the pcb Justin, looks like a real beaut, more streamlined when compared to the Ziegler design. Makes me wanna build one ever harder.Mike, the programs you put together, still mind blowing, and I'm still going to try them out when I get the necessities for it. If it works virtually, it would simplify the hell outta of camera dumping if you can't find a transferer, or go through the gbc to mmc to usb method. I can't get those .sav files moved around fast enough.
Shit, anybody ever dump an mmc or a genius boy?
Oh and just to comment on this. It is exactly the Zeigler design. I just followed the schematic and checked his PCB to make sure all my connections were correct since the schematic doesn't exactly give all the info you need. I may just print out his PCB on some transfer paper and etch my own board because It will be cheaper. But I REALLY want to use this Transfer Pak. At least I could use the connector for either design.
So here's the PCB I came up with:
It's just about done. Just need to double check everything.
All I'd need from the Pak is the connector. Solder it in place to the board and cut a hole for the mini USB plug.
I can get some pics of the inside of the Transfer Pak later. I've already desoldered the cart connector.
Nah it's cool, Rob. There's no point in keeping anything I'm doing secret after what we discussed. I'm just making some for myself at this point and I realized the N64 Transfer Pak is absolutely perfect. They're cheap. No one uses them anymore and they're everywhere!
I'll post some pics of my Pak torn apart and some screen shots of the PCB I designed the other day.
Haha dude! That's what I've been working on! I have the PCB laid out and everything!
basspuddle wrote:Is the DMG in the demo video for sale? It's gorgeous.
Probably not Justin has DMGs that use other parts of cases that compliment his yellow-blue=white color scheme, and they have all sorts of things done to his liking. However, it's probably not too hard to make your own in a similar style
Actually. It would be very difficult. That is one half of an insanely rare bootleg replacement shell. I though I was buying a blue DMG on eBay but the photo was terrible. Turned out to be one of my favorite colors. Haven't seen anything like it since.
Here's the rest of my DMG setup:
Actually I've changed these a bit now. I should take some new photos. The yellow/teal one and the grey/yellow one both have added 1/4" pro-sound jacks. I changed the front yellow shell so it is not RGB anymore. Just nice, simple and durable for shows. The front grey shell have a white backlight instead of the EL panel(someone wanted it for a commission).
Oh, and I changed the shells for my Smart Carts.
Battery sockets don't fit in standard cases.
I'm going to try out this on the first case I get. Should make for an interesting effect.
Painted from the inside right?? That would look incredible!
I like the new name. Stick with it!
Yeah this could be accomplished easily enough.
I could use two ICs and have them powered from one Game Boy and use a stereo pot with a two pole switch or individual switches for each unit if you ever wanted them to be out of sync. Could take it a step further and have two pots and depending on the mode the main one could control both or you could control two individually. This is something I would never use but it does sound like a fun build!
Yeah sorry about that! I deleted all those renders and forgot!
Here's a pic of my working prototype:
I'll be changing a few things like:
The capacitor will only be SMD.
There will only be 2 pot pins. No need got pin 1.
The low limiter will be shifter to the left so when you mount it in the Game Boy you wont have the PCB in the way.
And it will be smaller overall. 3/4" long by less than half an inch wide. The way you can potentially fit it on the other side if you have a 1/4" jack over there as well.
The model in the the video I actually made by hand like this one:
But it was slightly longer to fit the trim pot. Then when I designed it I made it a little bigger over all so it would be easier for people to solder to.
Yeah I know what you mean man. Maybe start from scratch and find some smaller PROMs.
Na dude I'm more than good on CGBs right now. Thanks though!
I'll think I'll definitely get two SIDs though. PM me a total and I'll get you a PayPal payment in a few days.
Oh shit. I'll think on that for sure. Would like to have 2 at least. I'll let you know. Don't hold them for me though. I thought they'd be a lot less.
