there was a suggestion of staff picks at one point that didnt sound too horrible of an idea, though again, we already get called elitists enough around here

as much as id love to have more guests, our turnouts cant support it at this point and i hate having to see my friends get paid between $0-40 to play chicago
then again, i keep seeing a ton of unfamiliar names on here listing chicago as their city, maybe if those people start coming to gigs, we can fix that

also ^... there are tons of people who HELP RUN THE SCENE IRL who don't (at least on a regular basis) write and record tracks, and their taste is in no way less valid than that of whoever is the hype artist of the week/month
edit: for example, the visualists

a tiered voting system on a site that already has so many people thinking it's elitist?
probably not a good idea

i have to admit, i have no idea still what the 5 bars system really means, though i also dont really care
@goto80: nah, just the charts were one of the things most of us felt was more of a negative than a positive in the way the people used it.. (even if the idea itself was overall solid)

out as of sometime last week on kittenrock (you may have seen the cds on the Datathrash merch table at blip)
"The future sure is a cold place in esc’s mind. Industrial clonks, apocalyptic thuds and claustrophobic feelings make up this SID release. Or maybe the weather is just going to be cold rather than the future being an emotionally cold place."

or direct download (but really, just go to kittenrock and grab everything, you know you want to) download

Good point should've thought that -_-
except, as i said, cTrix was already known to a great deal of the scene before the charts launched from having been an active member of the demoscene for years

could be mentioned for the 8 millionth time that cm.org was founded (and still is run) by former 8bc staff, we didnt like what became of 8bc, so we have a pretty solid vision of what we want for cm.org
hard to put hundreds of hours of work into a site for free and have it turn into whatever exactly 8bc was in the end

just sayin' dont hold your breath... for artists looking to make their mark, best bet is work out a really solid release, and selectively link it to more established artists who you think it may appeal to (dont just spam the fuck out of it)... also look for netlabels who take demos
