Thanks for your reply. i do appreciate it, really.

Not trying to update but just use the MIDI sync/real-time features. I just bought a new cart because I was using 2.0.1...... and it wasn't compatible with the new adaptor. Damn! Thwarted at every turn with this GBA nanoloop technoBS. *shaking fist* .... "and I would've gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!!!!"

And yes, I did try to Google this topic, which I figured would be answered in seconds, yet after futzing around for 10 minutes or so, couldn't find an actual straight answer. I'm sorry if I'm annoying anyone with basic questions.

I recently purchased the nanoloop USB adaptor and it says it's not compatible with the multiplayer link cable. Of course not... because I already own one, and that would be too easy sad

Anyways, I went to Gamestop today and they don't even carry GBA stuff anymore, of course...

So I found this little hole-in-the-wall place in town but they only had a (brand new in blister pack) Gameboy Color link cable, of course...

So I bought it anyways because it looks exactly like the same plug, but I'm not sure if it will work. Knowing Nintendo, they used the exact same plug to save money on their end, but I'm betting it's probably missing some kind of contact or wire so you would be forced to buy a brand new GBA cable, right?

So, will I be able to use this GBC cable with my original GBA and the nanoloop USB adaptor?

Thanks for your help.

Alrighty then. Thanks for the reply. Now I know what to ask my girlfriend to buy me for Christmas. And I'll go ahead an keep the adaptor for possible future updates and MIDI sync.

Thanks for linking to that. I've saved it in case I ever need it.

i didnt think 2.01-2.1 can be updated to newer versions since the cart hardware was different

You know, when i ordered it a couple weeks ago I SWEAR I didn't see that mine wasn't compatible, and I was checking. Now looking at Oliver's site, it clearly says 2.2+. He must've clarified that just within the last several days, otherwise i probably wouldn't have spent the $16 on the adaptor.

Fuckballs. So what's the difference between 2.0.1 and 2.6? I know mine has 8 tracks and 2.6 only has 4? What's the tradeoff for less tracks? Is it worth it to buy a new cart?

Hello,

I've got a nanoloop 2.0.1 cart and just recently purchased the USB/MIDI adaptor as I'm trying to update to 2.6.

I'm running Mac OS 10.6.8 and I'm not a complete stranger to Terminal but I'm mostly limited to running the easy "sudo periodic weekly" type commands.

I hate to be "that guy" because really, I'm usually resourceful and good at figuring this kind of thing out, but I am NOT a programmer and I don't know code and command line stuff. Could someone tell me a step by step process, like you'd tell a 10 year old how to do this. I haven't had much luck aside from Terminal telling me:

"nanoloop MIDI adaptor found

nanoloop MIDI adaptor found

useage:
nlmidi01 -parameter filename

available parameters:

-send filename
-receive filename
-sync
-midi
-midireceive

-MIDI, -MIDIRECEIVE and -SYNC (in caps) sets the respective mode as default

It is recommended to use suffixes '.nl1' and '.nl2' for nanoloop 1.6 and nanoloop 2.5 files."

Even if the cable is not compatible, I still can't seem to even run the command line properly, as I get "-bash file not found" messages and all sorts of bizarre and frustrating messages that I can't interpret.

Also, I'm not sure if this is the incompatible GBA multiplayer cable, but this is what I've got: AGB-005 http://www.nindb.net/img/system/gba-game-link-cable.png

Some guidance would sure be appreciated. Thanks.
