I kinda feel stupid about this thread because i dind't no nothing literally about this haha. Hilarious what 2 weeks worth of reading can do to someone.

In the end i'm gonna get Behringer Xenyx 502 tmrw 25e.
And i might end up getting a kaosspad3 for free kinda.(gonna trade my guitar for it and the guitar was 20euros)

Got the rom cartridge here today some time.

Anyway thanks to everyone who posted here and wrote stuff, without you i think i wouldn't have learned this much so fast big_smile

SO i got a few things that i can trade, pics will be up later because it's 6 in the morning i just came back from a party and wasn't too lazy to type here.

I got a Nintendo DSi with games(can be without games ofc)

A nintendo DS original with top screen broken, can be salvaged for parts.I got some other stuff which i can offer but i have to find first.

Generally what i'm looking for is either money or something to get me started in the chiptune scene.I got a catridge(ems) on my way.I send some money for the lsdj program. All good so far.Hit me up with offers,i don't think i need modded gameboys(i got 6 laying here and i want to start modding myself)

Maybe some gear would be nice or anything in that direction.

So I read a bit and i would like to ask,is it possible to use http://www.frontx.com/pro/c216_042p2.gif  to connect to a korg miniKP thenthrough the miniKP to computer to record.

And through the arduino(or pushpin) to some midi to control start and such of channels and pitch ot tunes(i do believe this is possible?)

If this is right and possible i think i just finished my setup big_smile All i have to do is wait for the chip,do some modding on my gbc and then i start with the music and later when i save money buy the miniKP

EDIT: I would kinda prefer to stay away from computers and do everything that is possible on the gameboy and through the gameboy.

And for the start use a computer keyboard to begin with and use it for the learning process.

What are you planning to do with midi and lsdj? because the midi functionality is quite limited.

it's mainly midi sync (for drumcomputers / ableton)
and some basic start/stop & channel on of commands.

You can play notes with midi, but you can't program lsdj via midi..

well that was what i was going for small control.A drum computer which can modify the channel a bit.

If you really wanted to get a MIDI out from a usb midi device you could buy one of many USB - audio interfaces, then run the USB controller in through the laptop, then back out through the interface. Definitely a work around, and you'd still need an arduino-boy, but so far as I can tell it would work.

Pictures and links would help a lot.( i think i get what you're trying to say,but this seems like it's gonna cost 200+ bucks for the interface and arduino-boy plus whatever the price is for the usb midi. This way i get to upgrade later to use a real midi plus i can use the usb one now.)

But wouldn't it be the easiest just to get

http://www.nanoloop.com/midi/ and simply plug in the usb midi to computer.

What i was trying to get was a setup where i only use the computer to record.A simple midi keyboard/pad/controller connected to a gameboy for ease of use and mixing. This would be an alternative(so how much do i need to shell out for this combo.

I would buy this without thinking. What would you sell this thing for?

So i'm kinda in a dilema.I will just get a ems card for a while and work with it.But what would you guys advise me do,go after a midi afterwards(which can be hefty and i don't even know which one yet)  or go through the hassle for smaller amount of money to be able to use the usb midi keyboards which will have no purpose later(if i become better)

If you can recommend me a good midi keyboard(not usb) without piano keyes that would be awesome.I would mostly focus on effects i think.

steer clear of transformer. he has an appropriately bad rap. i'd suggest starting with other mods, to get you familiar with the process and concepts, and maybe find a music production method that fits with your experience. there are ways to sync LSDJ with DAWs like ableton, etc. but they aren't simple mods, and tend to require knowledge on the part of the modder, the acquisition of a miriad of parts, and lots of patience. I suggest starting out with a DMG and an EMS cart w/LSDJ loaded on it. If you aren't getting the results you want out of that, you're only going to complicate things by diving into a midi sync project.

Oh ok i'll keep that in mind. But is there another site in europe which would ship to serbia.Because this is the only one i know.ofc that doesn't require paypal is important.

You can't just splice two cables together and expect things to magically work.

This is what you want:

edit: reminds me of this lol

i know i know big_smile i have literally 0 knowledge of chips cables and such. This is first thing i did in my life and i have no idea how what works.Ok I will try to order the chip, but how do i connect that to the gameboy?i see the teensy chip but what else do i require for the usb midi to work.

And is there any other way to do so.

Can i just get(  http://www.djtransformer.com/shop/produ … product=37  )  a usb to midi adapter and any midi keyboard then.I am working on a colour.

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt … p;dur=2545   use that  and

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt … mp;dur=156

to connect the korg pad for example.

you know the difference between midi and usb, but not usb and gameboy serial ext port?

interesting stuff here

ok so can someone help how to connect those two.I'm just trying to understand don't get me wrong.

this doesn't use midi output but a micro usb which you can see on this pic.

Well... no.

But first, what are your plans with pads?
You could add a midi keyboard to lsdj. But you'll need an arduinoboy, or a USB/midi device by the nanoloop guy.

Plugging USB midi equipment straight into a gameboy will not work. The gameboy doesn't do USB...

Do a search on arduinoboy here on the forum to get you started.

well it's not just usb it's similar what i believe to slicing up the  multiplayer cable and combining it to with a computer keyboard cable straight. Here i just added a female usb jack.

egr wrote:

What type of cable is that?  You seem to have spliced a usb onto a link cable.

yes i did that in the hope i can connect it just and be happy hahah

I have a gameboy colour getting started with LSDJ never done anything in my life with a gb other than play games,so i  need some help on this.I will go for a korg nanokey2( http://little-scale.blogspot.com/2011/0 … or-16.html )
or akai ldp8 ( http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/mu … e-900.jpg)

How will i be able to sync that to my gbc.I created a cable (  http://www.flickr.com/photos/49268464@N04/8315393517/  )  will this work.

Any tips would be good.
