Yyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeah, an interview with a guy who doesn't know how to say "50" in English, seein' a camera pointed at him. Sooooooooooooooooooo sad. Sorrowful even (hahaha).
Haha. Nobody cares about that man. This scene is so spread out across the globe, a good 90% of us sound just like that too Great interview!
1) Get a gameboy moded. If you spend less than 300 bucks in parts, it's not chipmusic. 2) Get a CMO account and ask what is chip music. 3) Get familiar with this spiral: http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/10613 ty/page/3/ 4) Post about how you want to make this community and chipmusic known to the world and how your youtube channel is going to change all our lives 5) Give up on all the bullshit, make some music, post it on bandcamp, be happy if you make 20$ with it.
Well... just an idea but.... Seeing as they are your own songs, you probably remember the chords and all that (i hope!) And since you want a chiptune remix, it's pretty safe to assume there won't be a lot of straight-up sampling done from stems and loops and whatnot. You could just write down the chords in a text file, maybe record a little riff or two to serve as basic guide, and let people run with this. When the song's done, you just record new vocals on top, send those to the artist and let him work it out.
@kitsch It's as you wish, you can wait for David to sort it out with bandcamp and get a new download link, or you can reach me directly on facebook and I'll email the sources to you along with a sexy picture of David in a bikini doing a pose on a bear skin in front of a fireplace:)
@PleaseLoseBattle Merci! Klystrack vaut definitivement un coup d'oeil, meme si c'est parfois un peu tout croche
Haha, if you listen to both back to back though, the difference is more evident. It's very close, but my version doesn't have that creamy analogue goodness to it.
All of my chipmusic (well.. so far at least) is just pure Klystrack with nothing else. I just dump to .wav and then I do a bit of "mastering" in Cubase, which is really just some compression and a bit of EQ. Otherwise it's all Klystrack making that noise.
As for sounding almost like the original track, I did try for as much fidelity as possible to W. Carlos' amazing work. I really just wanted to see if I could get Klystrack to sound close-ish to those big ass modular used for the OST. I was quite happy with the results to be honest.
Apparently there's a little problem with the bonus material (source files) not getting included with the download at the moment. If you purchase the album and you're not getting the sources, PM on facebook, or here I guess, and I'll mail them to you.
There's also supposed to be a special bundle price if you buy both albums, but that doesn't seem to be online as well. Lazybeat is looking into it at the moment. Again, if you want the bundle, there's a way to retroactively make it happen via emails and whatnot, so don't hesitate to contact me or Cheapbeats directly with threats and insults.
All joking aside of the horrendous thread I think you are referencing, it would be interesting to have a VST host running in background with some effects processing a guitar signal. A Raspberry PI may not be powerful enough though, although I think it would be cool
Yeah I'm pretty convinced it's the font routine too. If I switch between full screen pattern and the wave editor with a 4 channel song playing, I go from ~15% CPU down to ~5%. I'm guessing they're all sprites?
Also.. don't know why you guys are getting crazy CPU clogging like that. Klystrack *does* take a whole lot more CPU than it should but 60-70% on a 2ghz machine is just nuts. I think there's a problem with the version at this point.
