Hi folks!  I'm tired of lugging around my Twin Famicom so I'm for something more compact to rock the VRC6.

I could use an AV Famicom (HVC-101) or a Famicom (HVC-001).  I'd prefer the former but I know they are not very common.

I'm willing to pay a competitive price for either from the US.  If the shipping can be worked out so that it is manageable, I'd also be into purchasing one from abroad.  Please let me know if you have one you're willing to sell!

Also, I'd PREFER unmodded but if you do have a modded one that works that you want to sell, I'd still be interested.

Thanks guys!

Ahhhh makes sense.  So Delflemask only gives me the option to export files as VGM files.  All I need to do is convert them and theoretically, it should work.  Well, hopefully.

Been writing new stuff in Deflemask and now I want to try to play it back on my TG-16.  Before I order a Turbo Everdrive and get this going, I'm just curious as to exactly HOW to play my file on the hardware.  I've looked around for about 2-3 hours and maybe I'm looking in the wrong places but I can't seem to find the answer.

What I did find (and maybe this is how it works) is a VGM -> PCE Converter.  I imagine I run the converted PCE off the Everdrive and we're good to go.  I really don't understand VGM files (is it just all the data collected and read?  etc) but I would hope that it does preserve the original integrity of the music somehow.  If that's not the case, I'm wondering if there's any other way.

Also, yes, I tried Husic.  I'm a Famitracker guy so I'd much rather use Deflemask.

Thanks guys!

Thanks man!  "Megamanish" is the best compliment I can get haha!

Thanks!  Yeah, it is more of a modern chip cover, you're right.  Appreciate the feedback and glad you enjoyed it!  big_smile

I'd mess around with the 2a03 side of things before you get deep into VRC7... it's the most complex of the chips available in Famitracker.  You can also check out Bucky's website for some tutorials and basic instrument construction.  http://retrogameaudio.tumblr.com/   Good luck!

A video game and nerd music cover band featuring all orchestral instruments.  I do a lot of the arranging and stuff for the group.  Lots of fun and things.  And yeah, that's me on the tuba haha.

Anyone doing this smarter than me?

It's tough out there really.  As bitjacker said, you really need to generate income in general so that you have a greater ability to write off expenses at the end of the year.  That's really key.  It will make the money you get for writing pieces/royalties soooo much more powerful.  There's nothing better than meeting with another artist for lunch and knowing that your bill will be written off because it was "a business meeting" haha!

There's money out there... not much but you can make it if you are smart.  If you managed to get your education for very little money (IE scholarships and stuff), it will make things a lot easier.  Students loans are a major drag.

I decided to continue and pursue my MMus and I find that it has opened more doors... though poorly paying doors.  Still, I manage to cobble together composition, college teaching, private lessons, and some freelance work to make a respectable career.  You just gotta be open to working some "day jobs" to fill in the cracks- even if that's being a bartender or doggie daycare This spam will soon be deleted (I did that for a while haha).

And having a day job doesn't mean "QUIT BEING AN ARTIST AND FUN.  NO FUN ANYMORE".  A lot of my friends went the Composition/Music Ed path.  They are teaching at local schools and are publishing lots of great contemporary works right now.  One of my best friends is an IT guy and writes ridiculously awesome music that gets played all over NYC.  The IT job gives him a LOT more time to compose actually.  Money, in some cases, equals stability.

I hope that helps!  Good luck and go get'um!

Then get practicing!  You can do it!  Put the time in and it will get you results, promise, k?  You just gotta be patient and persistent.  You can't learn piano by saying you're going to learn piano; you actually have to sit there and practice Hanons... for years.  But all of that starts with you starting today, right?

This is going to be AWESOME.

Imagine going to an art and crafts show in your local area- just any arts and crafts show.

There's going to be hundreds of vendors selling all kinds of things- from amateur to professional.  How many of those vendors are actually selling something you're going to buy?  Very very very few, if any.  You may pick up something that looks cool and say "Hey, this is neat" but it doesn't mean you're going to buy it.  It's a good allegory for this website and bandcamp and basically all websites full of music/art/choices- how many times have you actually BOUGHT something?  If we don't like it, we have the choice to move on.  We also have the choice to pick WHAT we like.  That's kind of great!

What is being proposed, in part, is that we make the craft show ONLY display the 5 vendors from which we want to buy and that quantity, in this case, is not to the community's advantage.  The thing is... we can't rent a venue, find space, or even really have a craft show without all of those other vendors, even if they are selling poorly crafted birdhouses and lanyards.  The mere fact that there is so much stuff out there should provide bigger audiences for the music... and therefore allow our allegorical craft show to rent a giant space rather than a tiny, specialized one.

TL;DR.  With this board comes all levels of talent, from beginners to pros.  I think that cultivates a community.  I think that's a really positive thing!  Is it really all that bad that people are really into making chiptunes and trying to put their work out there?  I like it.  It's inspiring to see people trying.  And if we don't like their work, we don't like their work.  It's that simple.  There's no anger or frustration about it.  Listen to what you like to listen to.
