Thx for (what I think was) a power button thrown in with my connector last week.

no prob wink  i've got a bunch of unmatched bits and pieces from the last button run, so i'm just giving away bits with orders for a little while, when peoples orders seem relevant enough they'd have a gameboy to fit the bits wink

if you install a new NES edge connector, then proceed to stick dirty games into it, you'll have a dirty edge connector once more.

so, if you have a new one of those, without cleaning the contacts of your games the grime will soon build up on the edge connector, and you'll end up with similar problems as before.

the universal law re: the transference of dirt wink

i'll look for a pocket and get to doing this.  i just don't have any laying around, but i'll get one and do this wink  backlighting them is easy and pretty much the same, but having a tut would work well.  although, its very easy to destroy those screens...

i'm simply curious.  i'm sure there is a way to figure out how people have things set at this moment, but people can change them daily or whenever, so this is for which one you use the most...

i use snow.

edit - i realized i was very vague, and in this context 'style' was probably read as 'musical style'.  i mean your profile settings.   wink

Great tutorial! Now, how would we do this with a switch?

to add a switch (to turn the light on-off) all you have to do is add one to either of the wires coming from the LED panel.  you just need the switch to break, or connect, the electron flow.  this will turn the LED on or off.

a simple SPST switch would work.

This is my 2nd/3rd time backlighting my gameboys.
I succeeded the first time.
The second time seemed annoying. And now the third time
has just plain pissed me the F*** off.

I have done EVERYTHING correctly. I guess maybe it could be that I'm more
of a musician and not a circuits expert? But the flimsy little wires keep breaking
because of the crammed space. Even before the wires break, I can't get the
LEDs to light up completely. They are dim. Like... Barely-visible-in-complete-darkness dim.

Then I messed around with the wires a bit. and then the screen lit up!
Then I tried putting the case on it gently and the screen went dim again.

DO YOU KNOW HOW ANGRY I AM?! Very very very very angry. Am I using too much solder?
Not enough solder? Are my soldered joints really sh***y? The solder hardly sticks to the wires
and it always sticks to the tip. Then when I turn the heat down, the solder solidifies. Is it my soldering
gun? UGHHHHHHH...

>_<

i think the reason you are having soldering issues is that the surface you wish to solder to (the wire) isn't getting hot enough.  solder won't flow onto it unless its hot.

this should help out with soldering how-tos: http://store.curiousinventor.com/guides/How_to_Solder

kitsch-bent is back online, although i may be sleeping for a few days, hahaha...

but, alas, comps are done, i'm around to get things accomplished again, so everything is available once more big_smile

a BIG thank you to everyone i had to tell i wouldn't reply to their e-mails until now, and a bigger thanks to everyone with support!

but, yeah, store is back.

yes, perfectly fine by me...

thanks!
