i did the mod real quick so i'd have one to show you all, and snapped some quick pics of some random colors:

theoretically there are infinite colors you can set it to.  these are 8 of those.  well, 7 (took one's picture twice)

anyways.

have fun.  have a good night.

time for the girl and i to get some well-deserved rest.

heart matt

ok, so this product is active,

and, PRE-ORDERS are open.

these will ship thursday or friday of next week, or asap when we get the last part (the screws).

the price change (from my original $21 estimate) is due to me forgetting i switched to a different part, thats is a better quality of what i originally used...

so, yeah.

thanks everybody!

and, PLEASE let me know if there are any questions.

documentation will be up before they ship.  but, i assure you, installation is really simple if you are familiar with the basics of backlight installation.

MOST IMPORTANT!!!!

i'll start a thread re: beta development of this.  i am VERY VERY open to suggestions.  and, since i controlled the manufacturing specs of this entire thing, i can change it pretty easily if needed.

I'll do beta development in a forum thread, maybe not here, and will post a link to that thread here.

interaction makes much more sense than just e-mailing me...

i honestly am interested in your ideas about it, and will happily adjust or change it if its a compelling reason smile

but, for now,

I HOPE YOU LIKE IT!!!!

ok, bump for the first post...

its worth a read if you've got a sec...

edit:

what does RGBva stand for, you ask?

the va is for 'visual architecture'

this backlight isn't meant to be a functional plus or minus (electrically speaking), but rather a medium for more personalized expression and aesthetic customization.

yes, i'm serious smile  i know it sounds dumb...

its more appropriate i think though as it being a visual artwork, rather than an electronics piece.

art powered via electrons.

'visual architecture'

also because it only shares a common power source with the gameboy.  feel free to utilize it in other gear...  in fact, i'd (personally) love that...

its residual magic

yeah, celtic, not celtics smile  (scottish premier league)

http://celticsuperstore.co.uk/stores/ce … l=PNQUIA6N

thats basically the color (not the jersey).

ok, back on topic: t-shirts... none of which are green (:

wink

yeah, the quality is outstanding.

and, the size labels inside are custom ghost clothing labels, which is a really nice touch i think (the small things count (: )

i hate the look of the site.  just a little tired of thinking about it, and i'd rather the site look like shit and me spend that time getting products wrapped up, than sit down and move things around and change the colors and layout and stuff.

priorities...

i can insult it, because i laid it out tongue

but, yesh, i guess it looks better.  i like the monster guy (thanks ghost clothing!) but the rest i'm not sure about (the parts i did)

its very much NOT what i see in my head, but it works.  not even remotely close...

that site is one of the brightest things in my personal life i can think of as i'm the type who consistently wears earth-tones.  the loudest colors i wear are football (soccer) jerseys.

i'm a celtic fan (that league), so that god-awful green may be my brightest shirt.

get them while they are hot off the presses!

ghost clothing now stocked in the shop.

for the older carts, the batteries have solder tabs on them, and EMS uses a configuration that on the tabs that we can't get easily, so we just get them from EMS.  you'd actually think the tabs are a standard thing for that type battery, but, very hard to find...

you'll need the batteries with tabs though for that kind of cart.

it means that buying presents around the holidays for everyone doesnt hit as hard since blip funding doesn't coincide chronologically.

...

i'm sure there is a way to say that more easily.

sorry, just stepped out of class, my words ain't right

(at least this makes a difference for me, as funds are always the reason for not going... and december is always a very expensive month...)

it matter what the ribbon cable they used is made out of.

if its brown and hard plastic, its probably acetate (i think thats the right word, right?) and it will be fine to the heat.

the issue is, if they used something else to insulate the ribbon cable, it may melt really quickly causing irreparable damage.

if it is the brown cable like in a DMG, it should be fine.

i'd look, but have to run out the door in a sec and if i dissect a gameboy i'll get lost in it and miss work...

EDIT - my response is really geared towards if you asked "can i destroy the LCD screen?"

heat will destroy an EL backlight, yes, just like it would an LED one.  however, provided the glass from the LCD is between your heat source and the EL, unless you go crazy with the heat you should be ok.

this will probably make things a lot easier for the traveling chippers attending. Big up's to 8bp's.

this will make things at least considerable, if not completely doable!

actually, very doable.

i listen to, and love, some bad music too tongue

that song is great.  strange with the rest of the album though i thought.  7 and a half minute opening track with sigur ros frontman into an essentially dance-pop album.  strange flow...

good song.

his sunrise series aren't terribly bad.
