OK, I have some things talking.  I cannot flash the Arduino though.  I get a message saying that I 'may be using the incorrect COM port, did I configure it correctly?'  In the menu system, the option for com ports is greyed out.

I figured the USB drive may be incorrectly or not installed.  I got the driver files out the arduino distribution and tried to reinstall them.  Which the computer tells me it did correctly.  But I still get the same issue.  USB driver install file is called dpinst-amd64.exe.  Maybe this is only designed for an AMD processor? I am on an i3. Though I am not sure how this would make a difference...  But I do not see a file that relates specifically to i3 or even win7.

Hey team,

I am building an Arduinoboy using an arduino Nano.  I ham having issues working out how to flash the arduino with Trash80's code.  I have flickering LED on the arduino when I plug it into the USB pro on my computer, so I know it's getting power.  I jsut don't know what software etc I should be using.  Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks a lot!

It seems I can't comment on the original tread, as I'm new to the site, and I can't bump it.

Original thread:

IceBoy

So my question to the tread starter is...:

This is really nice.  What is the 5v supply?  Is it the same point used for the backlight mod?  Do the LED run in serial or parallel, and what resistor value are you using?  I would guess for standard green LED it'd be about 220R, and something a bit higher for high intensity blue or white?

Thanks in advance...

OK, I guess I'll stick with originals.  I have had the same problems with cheap perfboard from china before...

What difference does the crystal speed make...?

In what respect.  Their performance is unreliable?

I also found some pro mini copies on eBay from china. Though the call them 'pro mini enhancements'. Would these things be suitable, or you'll you recommend buying the real deal?

Thanks again!

Ok. Great. Thanks, maybe ill start with the UNO and then try the pro mini. The. Tutorial looks good, but its not for the mini. Is there a big difference between building the two?

Hey all,

I want to build an Arduinoboy, but I know little about Arduino. Most places specify the Arduino Uno, but there seem to be several versions of these.  Should I be looking for a specific one, or are the differences little enough that it doesn't matter?

Can anyone point me to the most straightforward tutorial?

Cheers....

Hey all,

This is my first post here, so hello to you all!

I have been building hybrid synths for a while and recently dug up my old Gameboy for some fun.  I did some basic mods, and now want to move on a bit further.  Ideally I want to make a MIDIboy a la RyuX.  To that end I have asked RyuX for some pointers, as I could not find any threads in the forum.  Here's a picture of my first effort, I see many hours of fun ahead with the MIDIboy implenentation smile
