Bit of a strange but somewhat urgent request: I run a Depreciation Guild fansite and received a message from Kurt Feldman the other day wondering if I had one of the 3" mini-CDs of the Nautilus EP — I believe he was asking for an 8bitpeoples project he's working on with Bit Shifter?

Sadly I couldn't provide, but I promised him I'd get the word out about it. So, would anyone here happen to have a CD/lossless copy of Nautilus (or know someone who does)? I'd really appreciate it if you could get in touch.

No need to panic folks, just heard back from the man himself. The Bandcamp page should be up and running again!

No chipmusic vinyl collection is complete without the Depreciation Guild. Floored no one has mentioned them yet, they started my vinyl obsession.

(Pardon the extraneous CDs, it's an old photo)

The Blue Lily single is still cheap and readily available, and Spirit Youth and the Ringo Deathstarr split 7" are fairly reasonably priced if you know where to look. In Her Gentle Jaws and the Dream About Me single are quite rare nowadays, though, but copies still turn up on the Discogs marketplace every now and then.

Spirit Youth (translucent purple 12"): http://www.discogs.com/Depreciation-Gui … se/2450437
Dream About Me (white 7"): http://www.discogs.com/Depreciation-Gui … se/1898567
Blue Lily (translucent orange 7"): http://www.discogs.com/Depreciation-Gui … se/2553951
Depreciation Guild/Ringo Deathstar split (orange 7"): http://store.clubac30.com/products/5029 … lit-single

edit: ouch, didn't notice it was a necro, woops.

Well paint me red and call me Shirley, an actual chipmusic show here in Iowa? That has to be a first, I'll see if I can pull some strings and make it out.

I was a reader of the CM.o forums for years before I actually signed up for an account. Even now that I do have one I generally just read the forums rather than post anything, and half the time I don't bother to log in, anyways.

I'm usually more of a chipmusic listener and enthusiast than I am an actual dabbler in the medium, and I've always gotten this (perhaps grossly erroneous?) impression from these forums that this is more of a place for chipmusicians alone to write and participate in, and that listeners have little to no grounds for posting here if they do not actively participate in making chipmusic themselves.

I don't know if I would necessarily say that it's because of perceived vibes of elitism/some "need for authenticity" here that forms that disconnect—but when such big names in the scene post here on a regular basis, I'd at least imagine that it's a bit intimidating for other "outsiders" such as myself to participate.

Awesome JAKB tracks. Fantastically in-depth interview, too.
