Jazzmarazz wrote:My guess is your headphone wires. The four wires leading to the headphone jack can often times rest on top of a ... how do you say... load bearing post. Notice the standoffs inside the shell that don't get a screw? Those make contact from one side of the shell to the other and must be free of other objects.
Headphone wires is an entirely possible suggestion. I'll check tomorrow though, it's 11pm here and I can't be bothered to disassemble it a third time

Be careful not to strip the screw posts. If it's not screwing together, don't force it.
If you squeeze the two halves together, does the shell close all the way? Or does it feel like something is blocking it?
If I squeeze the top, it seems to close all the way, not the same for the bottom. I'm guessing there's yet another issue down there then -_-

Apeshit wrote:Is the gameboy modded? It seems like something is blocking the case from closing all the way.
The case should comfortably close with all the internal parts in place, then have the screws inserted.
P.S. You bought this case from ASM Retro, not Apeshit. I don't operate the shop.
Ah well now I know! I'm about to open it up again, I have the slightest suspicion it might be the d-pad rubber blocking it.
SurfaceDragon wrote:Were you holding the two halves of the case firmly together while putting the screws in?
Yeah I did, the screws are almost too tightly in place as well.
I've been trying for about half an hour to screw this case shut (it's the black case from apeshit) and it just won't close all the way. There's always a millimetre or so that hasn't closed. It's just the final few triwing screws and I'm really not sure where the problem is coming from. Everything on the inside has fit in rather nicely, and I can't see anything sticking out further than it should be. Any help?
This is what I was going to buy, seems to fit what you're saying perfectly. If that's good, then I'm about out of questions, thanks for the help
Thanks for the help! One last question: when it comes to clear coats, I've heard it's best to use the same brand as the paint, but Montana doesn't seem to have a clear coat. Would it be fine to just use another brand?
Right, I'll just use sand paper then, thanks. When repainting, will I need to apply anything beforehand, or can I just go right into it? I know now to apply a clear coat afterwards, which I didn't do originally.
dsv101 wrote:Not to be acting like a smartass, but can't you just sand it a bit and paint over it?
Nothing smartassy about that, sandpaper is definitely a good idea, but I don't know if it'll get between those smaller gaps. If it would, then it's a perfect solution!
Posting this here as well as the tutorials section as I had no luck there?
I messed up a paint job using some Montana Gold orange spray paint and need to remove it so I can try again. What products can I use for this that won't damage the plastic? Product needs to be available in the UK, and needs to remove paint in small area like the little indents in the battery area. Thanks!
Excellent suggestion, thanks guys! It shouldn't fall out with just tape right?
Edit: changed topic question rather than making a new post. Can anyone help out with that?

Side note: do I need to use a clear coat? I feel like that's partially where I went wrong, as the paint is easily damaged and is still sticky weeks after painting.

My DMG's screen cover has come loose, almost to the point of detaching. I'm wondering if there is a good product that I can use to stick it back down? Bare in mind I'm likely to remove it at a later point in time, so it can't be so stuck on that it's impossible to remove. Thanks!
Note: I'm in the UK, so the product has to be available here.

So, something like this?
Thanks for the help! I couldn't find the rustoleum paint in the UK, so I settled for the Montana Gold paint as recommended in this guide. It's a really nice finish - matte but with a slight shine, and it's applied very nicely. Only thing I've noticed is it's a tad sticky, but I think that's just me being an amateur painter and not letting it dry long enough.
Alligatronica wrote:If you can't find an alternative, replacement shell cases would do the job. They're not too expensive either.
I'd love to do a clear white case paintjob in the future, similar to the amazing job thretris did with this one.
thursdaycustoms wrote:Rust-o-leum 2x coverage. It chemically bonds to plastic after a week. I've had my dark grey painted DMG for about 2 years and there's barely a scratch on it. Even when I dropped it onto asphalt it only dented it. Didn't chip off.
Looks good, thanks! Just trying to find if it's available in the UK now (doesn't appear to be). If it isn't, is there any alternative you'd recommend?
