Video made me think, "No Brad? Just Janet." tongue
I love the ZAMN clips thrown in.

Actually, random question. How is the nomad battery life? I remeber when they first came out 6 AA batteries lasted 20 minutues or something crazy. Are batteries more durable now?

That was the Game Gear. The Nomad has a battery pak which is smaller. Considering the age and limited availability, most people mod them or make their own battery paks. I just use the AC adapter right now...I need to find a portable energy source. sad

I litealy just stopped playing this. the demo is so large compared to what I expected. Its is going to be a fine platformer.

I really agree with this. The article even tries to say how hard chipmusic is ("but to get into it you need to mod a working 30-year-old NES into an instrument.")
I'm not saying there is a right way to make chipmusic, but to me this is definitely the wrong way to start out. For this price you could buy several gameboys or a C64 off eBay or something similar and get a much better music making tool. It just seems like he's trying to swindle money out of wannabe musicians who don't realize you can get LSDJ for $1 (always donate more, kids!) and use an emulator.

Or you could, you know, do everything for free with ModPlug / FamiTracker / Milky... we could use some new demoscene-mod-chiptune-revivers! smile

Or use a GB, atari, SGG, gen/md, apple ii, zx, ti 89 calc....a microwave...just open your eyes man! The chips are all around you.
/off to prosound my microwave...

So yeah. He's trying to play off of the chip-scene while hating on the chip-swag. lol wat?

Ah, I see. Thanks for all the help.

Start with a smaller ratio than even he suggests. I cannot stress  this enough. Then if you're confident in the outcome, add a little more of the active ingredient next time. None of us can afford to melt a GB. sad

But yes, it will work on clear too. wink

I think not, as long as the concoction is mild enough. It is not really a paint, it is something like an enamel.

Sorry to bump this but I wanted to know whether Retr0bright or anything similar would work on clear (transparent) plastic. I got a defective Pocket for the case but the yellowing is quite visible.

Can you not simply use YM2612 and TI 76489 samples? These should be easy to find considering the Sound generators are not custom or proprietary in the Sega Genesis as they are in the NES/gameboy, etc.

I like to joke that it will be exceeded 256 times over. Maybe you binary junkies will understand that. wink

I understand your point on using LSDJ as a basis and all, but really... No need to keep comparing one to another. See the example of LGPT. "Apples and oranges" blah blah blah.

Glad you're on the same page. I just felt the need to make that point perfectly clear since there was still some ambiguity or floating around the dev forum.

Rest assured everyone, there is going to be a cartridge release of YMDj. "YMDj" being the working title if I am not mistaken. Interest in the Cart selector. What system is it for? How many carts?

Oh wow! Very exciting news.

I can't wait for the updates! big_smile

Well, I took it to a friends house and tried it on a different TV and it worked first go! big_smile So, I think it's just a bit temperamental. hmm However, the RF cable broke because it got stuck in the TV... sad
But yeah, I'm looking into an AV cable or something. I'm just a bit reluctant to mod it because it has a warranty, and I wanted to know that it would work before trying to mod it... Also, I haven't really seen many comprehensive mod guides...?

In that case, I would hold off for now but in the future I recommend a few mods. PM me if you need more info.
In any case, I'll stick this here.

Go for an S-video mod if you have the components and skill.

Get as far away from the rf modulator as possible! Can you do mods? I suggest an RCA mod for composite video and split L and R audio. The model 2's are pretty poor actually, but damn easy to mod.
