So....we're serious about the LEDs? I thought that was a joke.

and, your #6.  it'd need to be a breakout PCB with the SMT fram on it, with swiss pins or something acting like a socketable IC.  its possible...  someone else mentioned switchable fram up above...  sort of echoes something jazzmarazz was wanting (i think, not looking).  multi-sav support is what it sounds like this boils down too, right?  or, do you literally want to be able to physically swap the fram?  and, why?  (just for curiosity's sake)

I don't think physically switching the TSOP by hand is what they wanted. tongue
Though a removable memory card-type of breakout board sounds interesting. lol

I believe this is what they are looking for (very quick mock-up setting aside all other connections and granted CE are low enable):

actually, i have another question for you guys...

does anyone know where a list of game .sav file sizes might be?  a complete list would be awesome, listing the game title and the .sav file size it generates.

i've found some, but they are either obviously incomplete or only concerned with a particular type of game cart style or something like this.

For a donors list?

Hows the solder station treating you?

i'm wondering the same thing!  i had less than satisfactory results from my similarly designed chinese hot air device.  (Aoyue brand, not that it matters, i think they just change the stickers and the guts are the same)

has the heating element burned out yet?  (this was my problem with them...  i have to keep basically near half or above on the airflow dial or they burn out, which is just too strong in a lot of situations unless i heaped on the solder paste like mortar which is a problem in itself)

Haven't really put any miles on her yet. I sure hope I don't have this problem because I have designed a load of boards since the programmer that are entirely SMT based. The gun I have has a side-ways mounted fan, not pictured in any of the Aoyue stations, but I am positive the innards are the same as yours. I should probably use it this afternoon to make sure I can populate the boards once they arrive.

EDIT:

Used it for about 45 minutes and love it. Just fiddles around with removing chips and caps from a broken video card. Got a few atmel PICs out of the experience. tongue

Next I think I will swap some mask ROMs between a Yu-gi-oh and Harry potter cartridge so that I may actually test my work.

What I need to see in a cartridge is a modern-mass-produce flash rom memory IC.
No more ancient, obsolete, unavailable eeproms.

I am currently reading through the datasheet of this:
http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Spa … H3SLV1U%3d

16MBytes, 8-bit selectable. However, it runs on 2.7-3.6v. Easily achievable and still under value of the current 29f032 variants.

Options are limited when you consider how the GB expects to be able to address the chip though.

Limited how?

Any chance we could have a switch and flip between FRAM chips?  If we lose the battery and reclaim the real estate, maybe we could squeeze another chip on it?  Just talking out loud.  Not sure if that is even possible.  Maybe have it as an option on the pcb where a jumper could be soldered if someone did not want the feature.  This might make it possible to have multiple LSDJ saves or another set of patches for mGB all you would need to do is switch and reboot.

On a personal note, may I commend you for all of the effort you put into your projects.  You always seem to raise the bar and yet still not let it go to your head.
Very impressed.

There should be room enough for another footprint, but the FRAM chip is the most expensive components on the board AFAIK!

Today I received a delivery! Still waiting on boards though.

But the cat couldn't care less.

Did I miss it, or where did you write what you did about the separate ground planes?

Can't say that I read the other responses (too busy viewing the hilarious photos.)
In any case, those who listen to chiptunes are more often than not, adults re-stimulating the senses of past enjoyment. Nostalgia has the attire of a grown person. I wear dress pants and a polo every day; if it were not for work, I would wear a full suit daily. These things make me feel good too.

The other spectrum of the chiptune party is adolescents. Children wear underoos if memory serves.

Would you like CC?
The board is trivial. If you beat the prices of other board then make it, otherwise no. Intercepting a signal with a NOT gate is not up to the standards of what the two of our minds should be creating. You and I both know this. Let us move on to the more innovative of developments.

I was actually surprised as hell to find no negativity after posting this. Then again, I am of the nerdy gamer demographic. wink

Lol wat?

http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/gami … s/2718421/

Personally, I was afraid to buy a 3Ds because of the 3D after testing it in a store, then I bought it and play on full 3D always. Note that the 2Ds will not be coming out in Japan. Yeah. Discuss.

THANKS I MADE IT MYSELF! big_smile

I am actually going to send away a board that I designed (someone else programmed it) which accepts an SD card and emulated a floppy drive. I will be loading games from SD in no time. cool

How well does it work, what is the max capacity accepted, can you split the SD into multiple disks, how much for me to get in on this?  Do you mind sharing any more details?  I have 6 IIes of my own that need more love.  I really want to get an uthernet card eventually, somehow.  I need to get a cffa300 this time around, but I never have money when I want one (or 5) and they are available.

Here is the original:

But I am building the LCD version:

The newer LCD version uses a 16x2 LCD rather than the 8x1. tongue
The buttons sort through the files on your card which can be an entire library!

UGHH...Mouser either stopped using paypal or never did...and DigiKey doesn't either! WTF! Applying for a Paypal Mastercard and transfering funds to my actual Visa card now.... >: (
