Not sure if this is what's causing your problem, but with my 3ft long 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable, going from my DMG to my PC's line in, I get no signal, but using a much shorter one works just fine. The output of the DMG might now be powerful enough. I also might just be talking out of my ass. lol.

i have a 12ft 3.5mm stereo to two 1/4" mono patch cable and it has no issues.  that longer cable might be crap.  that's way to much loss.

ok first you are going to want to get a stereo cable.
dollars to donuts that one is mono.

now i've never hooked straight up to a guitar amp so i don't know what's up with it.

for testing
i would hook up some other device w/ a 3.5mm jack (discman ipod whatever) and see what happens.

if it does the same thing as the gameboy, you'll know its not the gameboy.

maybe a bad cable?  hard to say.

one thing is if your music has any panning a guitar amp is going to be a bummer since its mono.  stereo stuff is always the way to go if possible.
its also nice to have a mixer.  the eq's are nice and having volume and gain is a great thing. plus you can have more sound sources for other fun stuff

this tshirt has gotten me more tail than my three wolf tshirt.

i highly recommend it to all you geeky guys who don't know how
to talk to the ladies.   you'll have to beat them away with a broken
keyboard once you walk into any thrift store wearing it.

Erm... can't you trademark Hot Mess?

Edit:  Yup, you can.  There are currently two trademarks for "hot mess", one is in shoes and the other is in tanning products.  My recommendation is that you register your name, Hot Mess, in the category of music production and performance, then send her a C&D.

As long as you have a registered trademark put into place before she does, and your products are similar enough to cause confusion (which it obviously could in this case, I can open a fast food restaurant called Nike but if I get into the shoe biz I'm in trouble,) you're legally in the right.  Actually, once you have a trademark you're obligated by law to reinforce your right as the trademark owner.

Here's hoping you decide to take the next step and register.

this is would be good.

I can understand not liking music.
That's cool.  There is so much shit out there, the beauty of such a subjective form of art as music is everything has its fans.

But please refrain from carrying over flame wars from other sites onto here.

This goes for everyone involved in this thread.

definitely a hobby.

i have a full time job, doing chip and music stuff is my expensive hobby.

also if it was my job i would have starved and my wife would have left me by now. lol

it nice to see that the builder is willing to make some mods for potential customers.

Building something like this (the bit crusher/wave shaper/down sampler part) should be quite easy using mostly simple digital parts, I think. How about having the signal going through some sort of S/H IC, of which the rate is controlled by a 555 or whatever, then through an 8-bit A/D, addressing a ROM containing all the wave shapes, then, depending on SPDT switches, either through inverters or straight to a D/A and out? Little-scaaaaaaleeeeee!

but with all parameters controllable by midi CC?  program changes and sysex for midi?

the more i read the more i want one.  it sounds so good and just looks like fun, which is a big part of what i look for in music gear.

wouldn't it make more sense to have a list to promoters who do chiptune shows?

they're the ones who are going to have actual useful contract info and experience with various venues in the area

not happy with how the sax sits.  going to redo it i think.  shitwave fits nicely in there.  might get rid of the parts done in magic 8bit though.   nanovoice is good but need some eqing to fit better in the mix i think.  probally going to scrap this arrangement and use the peices to rebuild
