Reading these posts and being a noob at this, I feel like I'm in a galaxy far faaaaar faaaaaaaaaar away!
I'd like to know more about any project to create a better chip maestro and even a better midines...
If I can help create an original project, I'll be glad.
I'll keep reading this thread until someone says : I'm ready to ship some midi goodness Booooooooooys and Girrrrrrrrrrrls.
Thanks to yogi who tried explaining "gates" to me and why it seems impossible to improve a chip maestro, thanks to anyone who's got time an enthusiasm to make a midi to nes cartridge a reality.
Still, I'm wondering why I haven't seen a midi->SNES on the internet yet while searching for a midines/chip maestro replacement...
Jazz, are you a member of a cartmod community?
I'm so glad to read that so many people are eager to create that I've got a smile stuck onto my face right now big_smile

Did someone thought about doing this for the snes?

Yay... Could I help in anyway?
Could I buy a real midines clone+added functionality?
How much time will it take?

I'm interested good sir, do go on smile

all the channels+visuals... good indeed

So, what is the purpose of the kaoss pad? just send some "wiuwiuwiu" in the middle of a dj set?
It has been advertised as a sampler/effect box... But as you said, it take some serious time loading samples and does nothing while loading...
If I want to put some samples in a set, remix or loop a vinyl in live, wouldn't it be better to sell my kp3 and buy a mpc500?

I'm living on a budget so, if you say the kp3 won't be useful to mix samples...

I'll be precise :

I want to continue being an electro/techno dj on my vinyl turntables but I also want to remix samples live and pass from one vinyl to another via a remix of the track being listened to.
I want to make some new ( and simple) tunes with a sampler and add them to my dj set.
I want to control a midines, record what i have done, and then use that material live.

Should I keep my kp3 and buy a mpc500, just buy the mpc and sell my kp3, or leave all this alone becauseI won't get anywhere fast?

Thanks a lot for reading me smile

Wow, I never would have guessed that a simple post would get this far...
The famiidi seems cool, a new midines would be nice but sadly I can't help much.
I've made some cartmod of nes and snes so I know a little bit about that, I could look out for a 5b sunsoft chip and maybe someone could emulate this?
I can give some time to help for an indiegogo campaign and put some money in it...
But still I am pretty much a noob in all that (music, programming).

About the chip maestro, did I understood yogi weel : no room for improvment on the chip maestro because of "gates"?

Jazz, if you need some cartridges, photograph of sunsoft chips or even a gremlins 2 cartridge, i can send it to you.

So...
How much do neil value is time making a midines lookalike with better samples and user firendly interface?Who can help him in doing so?
How much do they value their time?
Can someone or many people live from making this thingy?
That would tell us a little bit about how much money we must gather to make this project a possibility...
Isn't it possible to change a chip maestro and make it better?

And still, nobody answered my questions in my first 3 posts... mpc 500 to chip maestro? utility to keep a kp3 beside the mpc500.... an alternative to midines and chipmaestro... etc etc etc

But I love were this is going. If I can be of help, just ask smile

I've got a programmer (GQ4x), some nes chips, some nes cartridges, I can burn a rom onto a chip and solder it back on the nes cartridge but I can't program for sh**, I don't think I could help... But If you need a game cartridge and some chip...

Why reverse the MIDINES? Leave his shit alone.

Write a new program for use with n8/pp and come up with an Arduino solution.

I totally agree, it is faisable but... if we get our hands on midines schematics then it will make the work a lot simpler for whoever does the job...

Hello,

I'm looking for an 8 bit nes sample pack to put on a sd card so I can play with my kaoss pad.
Long version ( can it be shorter) : I don't want to buy a midines, an mpc, a new nes, etc etc, i just want to put samples on my kaoss pad and play with it live...

Is it possible? Where to find such goodness? google isn't my friend on this one because it seems too specific? a little help?

Thanks à lot smile

It seems interesting but isn't it illegal to reverse engineer? If so, you could NOT kickstart it but I admit that I dreamt about someone reverse engineer the midines to flood the market with it...Aaaah a midines for less than 50 bucks big_smile
I thought about something else... Some NES cartridges have another sound chip on them that delivers way better sound, I don't know how it works but I do know about It (yes I do, sir smile ). The cartridges are from sunsoft ( gremlins 2, batman, return of the joker). Could we tamper with an old nes cartridge, replace some chips on it to benefit from the sunsoft chip of a 8dollars batman nes game?
I've got some tools but not the intel to do such a work...
Could we make a better midines/chip maestro cartridge?
I think that the schematics for the chip maestro are on jarek website, the source code too, so maybe we could just improve what we have got laying around? I think jarek is ok with modifying the chip maestro, he delivers the good and some schematics and he answers to mails. I think he meant good by doing this chip maestro, it is just that it is faaaaaaaaaaar from useful to a live action set...

If needed, i could send my chip maestro to jazzmaraz to reprogram it, i could even send a gremlins 2 game...

Still, nobody answered my previous questions :

NES+chip maestro controlled by mpc500 WITHOUT a PC, is it possible?
Do you think I was wrong to believe in the chip maestro?
Is it possible to reprogram the chip maestro to make it look more like a good product?
Where is Jarek Lupinski when we need documentation and a fuc**ing manual?
Could someone help me out and tell me what I need to start chip tuning without a pc/with the chip maestro?
Does somene know how to use the chip maestro effectively?

See ya

I still think it can work and be useful but I'm a total newbie so i can't figure it out... help me...
The only difference between chip maestro and midines seems to be the 256 rom sample that is missing from the chi maestro, other than that, it is the same...right?

Wooohooo...I'm soooo happy to have paid 50 bucks +24 euros of taxes to import it to belgium to read that ...
Could I use it with an mpc500 to control it? Could i record the nes sounds and sample them to make some tracks and mix it with my electro vinyls?
Is it even possible? Or do you think it will be much more useful to sell it , don't buy an mpc500 and forget about chip tunes...
Because buying this chip maestro was an investment ( at least 100 bucks with shipping costs and taxes), buying the nes with a new 72 pin was an investment (85 dollars) and buying an mpc500 will be 250 dollars so i'll be 435 dollars in(360 euros)...I can't buy a midines because it is defunct ( isn't it?) and i'd like to make some noise in live... I don't know shit about cc# in midi or midi in general, i'm eager to learn and to use my NES...

What should I do, follow a new dream or kill it, sell my stuff and be back to play the NES in my living room?

Hello,

I received a chip maestro a few weeks back and wasn't able to do much with it... I tried to control it via kaoss pad 3 in ext.ctrl mode but it is not very useful and I still need a pc with fruity loop ( or ableton if I ever buy it) to make some sounds...
I'd like ton control my chip maestro like I've seen a guy control is midines via an mpc 1000. As you might guess I'm a total noob in music sequencing, composing etc ( I've been a dj in amateur for quite some time but it doesn't count) and I was wondering : could i buy an mpc 500 ( it's cheaper, just like Chip maestro is in comparison with midines) and connect it to my chip maestro in a way that it can control it (and record some juicy 8 bit sounds from it )to play  live?

I hope you understood my poor english, i'm from brussel and i'm not as good in english as i am in french...

Thanks a lot and please tell me that i didn't buy a crappy nes cartridge that i won't ever use again :'(, it would break my heart...
