Hey again everyone!

I got a quick question, I'm in the midst of building an arduinoboy and (This may sound stupid) but do I need the 2Kohm resistors before each LED? 2k sounds a little high and I'd want the brightness to be as high as possible, but I don't know if it is safe to do this (Multimeter is out of action so I can't test the pd coming out of the pins ^^'). has anyone foregone the resistors before and came out unscathed?

Many thanks in advance!

The new site is lookin' crisp!

Say, any idea of when you're gonna get any black clear shells in? Looking to get one with a backlight and a crapton of black covers as soon as!

This.

I'm not sure who it was on here that said this, but you really shouldn't attempt to get the triwing screws back to factory tightness if there has been any addition whatsoever to the gameboy, especially if it's a backlight.

You getting any pressure marks on the screen?

The colors can vary from cable to cable, so you are better off using a continuity tester to map what pin goes to what color cable.

This.
Worst case scenario, which it was for me, you don't have a tester.
I temporarily removed the casing around the wires' plug, and observed which pin each cable went to and referred to a pinout of the Gameboy's socket from the LSDJ wiki. Was tedious, but hey, I got a LSDJ keyboard adapter out of it.

Woah, going to have to pull out of this one, exams are coming up and I don't have enough time sad

You can choose any one of the following, but only one, and explain why:

  • The [Demo]scene is revived, parties occur left right and center, the techniques learnt and displayed are then adapted for use in the games industry, resulting in unparallelled development with spectacular graphics at fraction of current performance requirements. However, any programming you do in the future will have to be in BASIC.

  • A package arrives tomorrow morning, containing 50 pristine, factory fresh, original 6581/8580 SID chips. However, your paypal account is locked, and you're banned from your local maplins/radioshack, and your soldering iron just broke.

  • Chipmusic becomes "mainstream", following the path of other genres such as dubstep, clogging the radio with endless repeats. You are heralded as it's cause and idol, you are blessed with untold riches. However, you are stricken with an awful pallor, and your skin is terrible. Anamanaguchi is nowhere to be seen (No hate).

  • For the next year, you will receive one gameboy of varying rarity each week, each unmodified, and each unique. (From the play it loud series all the way to the limited edition Manchester united DMG). Attempting to sell even one will result in all of them being stricken with horizontal lines. A thousand schoolchildren with colds who have just eaten wotsits/cheetos will also break down your door and touch all of your equipment, said gameboys included. Gifts are acceptable at a rate of once a year.

  • You will find a fully functioning gem at an extremely low price (1-20$/£)at whatever auction/car boot/yard/sale you attend for the next 10 years. These can range from a sega megadrive, to a C64, zx spectrum etc. Any attempt to use these devices in music production will result in Timberland stealing from you.

This thread is not to be taken seriously, more humour the better.

what calender are you using where under 60 days is "almost 3 months"?

Just woken up when I wrote that, easy mistake to make.

UK eh?

Did you send it via Royal Mail's Airsure?
I got a quote of 5 days to get a faulty cartridge shipped back to Kitsch.

Calm down, there are many cogs in this machine, and I doubt anyone /really/ wants to fuck anyone else over...

Pm'ed smile

Hey everyone,

I was just working on a track for an event tomorrow (Grok Day), with the gameboy drawing power from my computer. I leave to use the toilet, and return to find my gameboy restarting itself, but with heavily glitched graphics.

I turn it off, make sure the cartridge is firmly in place, and switch it back on.

I die inside.

There is a thick 'white' horizontal line on my screen (Inverted screen), I scream and turn it off. Tentatively, I return to it, and the horizontal line begins to fade.
Now with each turn on, the line is present, but can be masked by altering the the contrast.

Can anyone shed some light on what the hell just happened? It's been working fine the last few days since I've opened it up...

He could be colourblind, these things can go unnoticed, even by the people themselves for certain types. :0

This will be a first, count me in! big_smile

Used the search function, forgive me if anything like this has already been done.

Right, too often I've had the problem of coming across amazing, yet uncredited chipmusic in tutorials, animations and various bits of crap floating on the internet. So the purpose of this thread is to offer and request help in putting names to music we've heard in passing.

I'll be greedy and start with two,
Firstly,
http://bimmy.org/1038
Sound reminds me of maktone, or maybe Zalza, looking through either turns up nothing.

And secondly,
The song starts at 1:12 or Low-Gains second pro-sound mod tutorial.
And progresses with a baseline of D-D-D-E-C#-C#-C#-C#-C-C-C-D-B-B-B,  then slides back up to D.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Feel free to post your requests in here too!

i used a random resistor that measured .67 on my multimeter. i dont know .67 what, but dont need to know anymore about electronics so i wont learn.  And i suck at the internet, so i won't post a picture.

so i dont get fried when wiring stuff. Maybe I could share a link to a picture... if i could see.... 10 new musical scales entered into my database...

I...
What?

This makes no sense whatsoever, what is the purpose of this post?
Is this a review of the new frontlight kit from Kitsch?
