Like the title says, can anyone tell me the name of the material polarizing film is generally made of and whether it's something that could easily be purchased at a local shop?
Thanks very much!

there's no such thing as an "inverted' or "normal" backlight for gameboys, since the gameboy pocket's polarization is reversed to the DMG.
some colors, particularly blue, will give the appearance of looking inverted depending on the contrast settings. this tends to confuse people. the best way to tell is if your screen is a dark shade of blue when the LCD is off, that means it's truly inverted.
When I first popped it in, it definitely had a dark blue color to it. After removing the polarizing film and rotating it, I slipped it back under to check and it took on the familiar green.
Did you purchase the inverted option?
No :\ I opted for the standard orientation.
Still kind of struggling to get the polarized film to not be sticky on one side. I've tried scrubbing it with a cloth moistened with isopropyl and even immersed it, but it is being extra stubborn.
Rubbing Alcohol. Every modder should have it handy.
And handy I have it! Thanks guys. You always have the right answers and get back to me promptly.
Oh thank the stars! I was really starting to worry.
Any tips on getting that adhesive off the polarizing film? Because I've been fiddling with it, there are some smudges and finger prints that I can't clean or wipe off while it's still sticky -__-
Since it wasn't shipped as a separate piece, I assumed it was affixed to the actual backlight. Lo and behold, it was, but the adhesive was pretty strong. Once I pulled it off and rotated it, I found myself unable to re-adhere it without a shit ton of ugly bubbles. Anyone have any ideas on how I can reattach the polarizing film to the backlight without bubble planet occurring?
Hey all!
It's been a while since I've posted here (regrettably).
I'm getting back into modding and just ordered some V6's from nonelectronics.com. The first backlight was a breeze and hooked up with virtually no hiccups. The second, although easy to hook up, came out inverted even though it was supposed to be the standard one. Is there any chance in hell that something could have just been wired incorrectly and caused it to invert? Or is it possible I got sent an inverted one by mistake? I am sure, like always, I'm making a fool of myself!
Hey all,
I help manage a retro game store and I'm putting together a playlist of tracks for the holidays--in particular, the upcoming Christmas season. I'd like to have some variety if I can help it, so I'm hoping to find a lot of songs. Christmas-related music is fine (like ice levels from well-known games), but I'd prefer to find covers/remixes of well-known holiday songs with the chiptune flavor. I already have Rushjet1's "Carols of the 2A03" album (which is super awesome) and I planned on snagging "8-Bit Jesus" by Doctor Octoroc.
Can any of you guys recommend anything that might suit the mood?
Thanks in advance!
I'm trying to backlight some buttons on an NES controller and I can't seem to get them to light up. While I've referenced a few articles regarding which terminals to solder what to, but otherwise, I've been flying solo in hopes of accomplishing something by myself. Alas, such futile efforts. Can anyone tell me why my LEDs aren't illuminating? I have the positive lead wired to the positive terminal of the first LED with its negative connected to the positive of the next and so on until the negative of the final LED is connected to the ground terminal.
I've attached a picture to illustrate, but I apologize in advance for the crappy picture.
Any help would be super appreciated! I'd like to get this done ASAP!
Thanks, chums! Are these pretty easy to track down? More accurately, are they brands I could find in most craft/hobby shops? Or are they something that would have to be special ordered? I don't mind paying extra cash for higher quality--it's the time constraint I'm trying to conscious of.
Thanks again!
Youch. Nobody?
I want to surprise my lady friend with a custom-modded Castlevania NES controller, but I'm horrendously inexperienced with paints. I'd like to find a jet black paint for the base. I don't know whether matte or glossy would look better, but I'd like it to be durable and vibrant (as vibrant as black can be, that is). I realize this is a terribly noobish thing to ask, but I want to get it done right the first time. Suggestions?
... Or righteous disdain. You decide!
This is an original nintendo gameboy model no. DMG-01 from 1989. The system works good and the volume an contrast switches both work. There is a slight bit of battery corrosion that shouldn't be hard to clean out. Because of the corrosion though the power is a little iffy. But if you can clean it right that should no longer be a problem. It comes with two games NBA jam and Mortal Combat. If you have any questions look to the pictures first and then contact me if you still have questions.
Normally, in this kind of condition, people would pay maybe $15-20 for something like this, right? Weeeeeeeellllll... The starting bid on this one is a LITTLE bit higher.
Apparently, the dude needs money for an engagement ring, which is sweet, but something tells me he might be shooting a tad high?
Anyway, I thought of you lot and thought it would least make a few people giggle.
Grab a sample kit of plexiglass sheets from these guys:
http://www.eplastics.com/Plexiglass_Acrylic_Sheet_Clear
It's less than $7 and comes with a handful of different gauge plastic sheets that are decently sized. I got a couple of these a while ago for an art project and was kind of impressed with the amount of sheets and quality.
Naturally, this will require some cutting and sanding, but the dimensions will be exact and looks great when done well.
Extra points for anyone who guesses correctly.
Pleeeeease let it be Munly...
I'd like to throw in my two cents, albeit a bit late.
I just want to say that it's so encouraging to see a shining example of personal strength and integrity in a shit-stained world.
Additionally, I'd greatly relish a pm from you with a list of alt. country groups you're into. I'm always on a quest for more.
