Amazing! My two favorite game titles of all time together at last. Love it!

Plug - Or grab a Gen2 Reader/Writer. Turns your EMS cart into a drag n derp!

Sure! I'll add other shipping options to my page for those regions that benefit from tracking/insurance/express postage etc...

Thanks for the support guys!

Update, EMS64 support added. Both page access and SRAM. Approx 12seconds flash time for LSDJ (1mbyte). No more drivers, no more software. Drag'n'Derp! The way a cart should be!

I'd say its OS specific, just tested on XP and no, SrAm.SaV works fine, as long as it asks 'Do you want to overwrite?' then you're good to go

Hi!

Sorry I'm late.

OK, so you have the Gen2 linker. What you need to do is rename your .Sav file to SRAM.Sav and drag it to the BennVenn drive that comes up in MyComputer. It'll show you the standard copying bar thingy and after around 4-5 seconds it will disappear. And you're done! Restart your gameboy and your save file will be there.

My linker only acknowledges filenames called SRAM.Sav (There were a few reasons for this, Windows or any OS for that matter doesn't write files to a Devices file allocation table (FAT) individually. It reads the current whole FAT, modifies it, then re-writes it in one block. There was no easy way to discover the new filename without allocating resources to backing up, comparing etc.. Having it overwrite the original file means my FAT directs windows where to put the file, where it is intercepted and routed to the gameboy via the link cable)

So as I said, prepare your filename to be copied by  renaming it to SRAM.Sav then drag it over. Getting it back is the same, Drag it off and rename it to whatever you like.

The boards have finally arrived! I'm leaning more towards the Link plug being 'flying' as in an inch or two of cable to relieve stress from the PCB and enclosure. This way I can use my existing Gen2 Low Profile enclosures too.

I've coded a very basic GB ROM, Load/Save/Slot# and a confirmation screen. I'll finish up the firmware on the block this weekend and hopefully have a working demo unit by next week.

You can, Gen2 does not require drivers or software so its far more convenient, and works across all operating systems. Gen1 is cheaper and has more features (but you would not need those) and is limited to Windows PC's

So, just for saves? I'd go a gen2 Linker (assuming you have the equipment to re-flash your cart with a custom LSDJ Rom )

I'd say I have around 10-15 hours worth of coding before it's implemented. All my core routines are finished, just need to manage cart type detection and block erasing/writing. But before that, I need to code a firmware update sequence.

I won't get much time during the week to work on it, maybe an hour or so a night so the bulk of it will be done on the weekend. Hopefully a working release by monday.

metatronaut - DMG/GBC Flash Carts use SRAM for save storage (nanoloop is the exception) but the ROM resides in Flash ROM.

Gen2 Reader/Writer update!

Mod1 (ROM Dump and SRAM transfer) is just about complete. Plug in any cart and a USB drive pop's up. ROM and RAM file sizes and ROM name are automatically detected. A 1mbyte ROM dump (LSDJ, Pokemon etc...) is just under 7 seconds, SRAM dump in a fraction of a second. You can run the ROM in an emulator FROM THE CART!!! This means plugging in your LSDJ cart and continue working on your project as if it is in the GameBoy - all your work is saved automatically back to the cart.

I'll make a short video on the operation so far and post the link here. >>>>>> http://youtu.be/15LvSmCMuIc

Mod2 will include full Flash write operation - still working out the 'auto cart detection' to determine which programming algorithm to use. Support so far: MrFlash, Bung, EMS64, BennVenn. More to come!

Oh, and my store is up. http://shop.bennvenn.com - I'll add Gen2 stuff soon. Check it out!

The cart as far as the Gameboy is concerned is a legitimate GBA cart, it has 16mbytes of ROM space so just about any current ROM will fit (except for Mother3 and other 32mbyte ROMs).

I've had no issues running GB emulators and roms on there, or NES stuff.

Own brand, 128M Flash, 128K SRAM, will support just about any ROM you put on it (some require patching if they originally used EEPROM to save)

I normally load them up with a GB or NES emulator to store just about all my favorite NES games on the one cart.

http://shop.bennvenn.com is my new online storefront.

I have a few GBA flash carts available. They need one of my reader/writers to reflash though. If you just want a pre-flashed cart I can have it shipped out today for $15?

Gen2 Linkers are ready! USD$35 ea with free shipping. (USD$50 for Linker & 256M LSDJ Cart - free shipping)

First thing to come to mind is years of non-use of that particular line has preserved its sensitivity. Other lines need to be driven harder for similar contrast. No possible fix?
