In that case, yeah, its paint. I was trying to justify the non-teal color with a poor photo, but the buttons are the correct colors. The paint job doesn't look bad though.

I would try making a tiny scratch on the inside of the case somewhere, to see if it has just been painted over.

Yep. I have a teal one. It has all the text except the NINTENDO Game Boy logo.
